Oh, oh Oda's past actually explains a lot. See I always found it kinda funny that no matter what random obscure thing Madoka did, no matter what it was, Oda always seemed to know about it and have personal experience with it. See I thought it was just because this is a Gag Manga, and Madoka doesn't talk, so we need some way for the author to explain this thing to the audience, but now it makes more sense.

Oda had his one passion destroyed in an instant.

I bet he threw himself into a lot of random hobbies trying to find something else to latch onto.
