@Add1152000 Thats why they are morons. Though the way I see it from the complaints. "Drama" Protagonists in general have two life choices.
1. Forgive the villain/asshole. The crime done could range from murder attempts to plain harassment. Regardless of whether said offender's status, commenters would usually accuse the MC of being something along the lines of an idiot pussy for not joining the "Dmitri School of Killing Every Last One Of Them".
2.Lord over the masses with their God given powers. All who slight them are disfigured and humiliated either with the greatest indifference to life the MC can possibly muster, or done with scummy heroic /edgy monologues. They usually end up as scum due to them becoming a super powered showoff that is not much different compared to the asshole from (1).
Typically doing what they are told is actually "normal". Depending on the situations obviously. Take the "Not sure" series for example. Some people complained about
The MC giving away the medicine. But without the medicine the whole village is screwed. Sure the villagers are ultimately ungrateful assholes but not doing anything is an even worse option.
I don't really care that much that they reveal their abilities also depending on the situation though preferably not to everyone and preferably as discreetly as possible (e.g saying a special weapon instead of straight up taking out a gun. At least he didn't outright explain what a gun is)
Naturally, this doesn't apply Lord/Civilian type protagonists because
1) Their job is to literally Lord over people (Overlord MC as an example.)
2) They don't exactly have epic powers to screw villains over (ice receptionist, Bakarina, etc)
Lol I love (hate) how they always let murderers and rapists go.
Oh you just attempted to kidnap and rape this young girl. But I beat you up and saved her, come girl I’ll take you home, and the rest of you! Sit there and think about what you did (later proceeds to murder and rape other victims off screen).
However some tropes are seemingly done for the comedic value these days, like the seasoned adventurer at the guild that thinks killing newbies in the guild house DESPITE fighting being against the rules anyway (and it’s their lifelong career) is a good idea. Makes no contextual sense, that’s like you openly sexually harassing the new girl at work the second you see her..... in front of the boss and HR lol, it would never happen.
But yeah sometimes edgy stuff is just bad writing, the idea is to take a regular joe from our world and throw them into an unusual situation, but the author instantly forgets what’s normal in our world and they just go right off the rails as either immensely passive or psychotic.
I love good food, but they use the word umami to describe everything (in an almost orgasmic way) that’s the only reason.
But it’s probably my fault, I have too many isekai in my watchlist and at some point they all go into detail about the umami. Or the unyielding need for rice three days into their adventure lol
Also black company employee with no home/prospects/family, always desperate to return to their humdrum life on earth.
Could go on about this stuff all day but I’ll leave it there haha
@Add1152000 Ah I got it. basically because Japanese being Japanese (umami is literally their way of saying taste/flavorful. They probably don't have any other word for it.)
and Asians being Asian (rice. Its our staple food and main dish. We pretty much can't survive without it, and we hate blasphemous rice chefs with an undying passion.)
Not judging you btw (just in case). Just... describing whats going on errr... behind the scenes? I don't know the word for it.
That’s alright, I fully understand the reasoning it just makes me laugh (the rice thing, I don’t go on holiday to a foreign country but ‘need’ my local cuisine so quickly), and the wording makes sense it’s just feels weird to see so regularly from a foreign perspective, but that could also be a translator decision).
> This kind of Guild Chief, i bet most of the adventurers here were a "YES" man to the chief, coz they dont even get their full attention to what was being discussed...
> MC: "She's sharp"
What my brain actually read: "She's Thicc"
> MC: "And the Aura the emanating from her, she has dignity that doesnt match the age she looks to be"
My interpretation base on what i've seen and what was being displayed on that panel
Aura => bewbs
Dignity that doesnt match the age => her bewbs are not that really sagging compared to her age
> At least, if the Chief had a charmed skill by using her eyes as the source of skill activation, i think cultured ones are safe coz they were not really looking at the eyes all the time.
> Despite how revealing the chief guild attire is, i didnt even catch a glance of her pantsu even once. Truly fitting to be called a chief guild, she was skillful hiding it and build up anticipation to the other party which will leave them gulping all the time, with a beads of sweat in their forehead....
> Im sorry, LMAO!!!!, She has no pantsu at all... Hahahahahaha
There's a lot of art inconsistencies here. Caro's hair ornament disappears on page 7, and the side her bangs are parted on switches on page 3. On page 16 Franfillia's skirt somehow becomes transparent (nice, but still...) and then on 17 her glasses have disappeared.
Aside from that, God damn is dark meilf ever right up my alley. Even if this goes complete garbage I'll have a hard time dropping if she sticks around.
@Add1152000 read NEET DAKEDO HELLO WORK, in the novel when the MC encounters a group of rapist/murders he has the same thoughts as you and doesn't let them go.
The only difference is that he doesn't save any girl when he deal with them, he ambush the bandits while they were sleeping.
Thanks for the suggestion, it’s one of my many saved isekais haha. It is my favourite genre if only to see how wildly they get it wrong (like that Minecraft one).
Sometimes they take the obvious decisions, not that I think a human could just go from civilised earth life to killer without being forced into a corner.
Just fun escapism/fantasy. Plus fun to pick apart the characters decisions from time to time
@Add1152000 NEET DAKEDO HELLO WORK is the most 'realistic' isekai I know in that regard.
It has all the tropes of your bottom trash isekai but properly develops them. For example its the only isekai I have seen where the MC develops PTSD and it actually follows the entire treatment and the proper after effects.
Wow what a rushed up development. Guess explanation about Caro's hometown will be part of the world building after this. But really... MC was just back from a quest. Give him some rest please.
@Swift It's funny that you mention her ornament, my first line of thought was that maybe it was a redrawing error on my part but it's not. It seems like the person who did the drawings just forgot to copy-paste it in. How do I know it's copypasted? Because in one of the panels I had to redraw the ornament and went over to see what it looks like on other pages, than quickly realized that it looks awfully similar from page to page and always facing head on. So I did what the author did and for the page that needed redrawing I snached it from another page and pasted it in.
Just to be clear, I'm not really blaming the artists here, it's a reasonable shortcut to take.
