Well the previous extra flashforward pretty much spoilers/states Kakeru enters middle school fully as a girl. So yeah.

I do enjoy genderbending manga that is willing to accept that they are basically wish-fulfillment stories for trans or queer folk. I mean, it's not like half this site (excluding possibly the porn) is wish-fulfillment of some kind. It's like Carmel Corn: light, tasty, but not filling or healthy in quantity.

Now that isn't what all of them should be, nor does it mandate the stories to be as trope-heavy as some of them have become; The Blood Princess and the Knight uses the concept exclusively for a split-personality sort of thing, and Destiny Unchain Online seems to be going for a more mystery/self-discovery sort of thing. Even if I am somewhat worried about what the author is trying in the latter.

Both this manga and Onii-chan Is Done For! seem to be focused on playing out that teenage childhood into the coming-of-age period that frankly a lot of trans guys and gals wish they could have had. It's sort of like how so many isakai mangas on here focus on the food: wish fulfillment of something the target audience likely never will have.

and hate this type of manga exactly because they're trans wish-fulfillment story that shit is boring to read is basically teenage self exploration story but with none of the fun parts and neither the drama or the fun misunderstanding and weird situations like classic gender bender manga like ramma 1/2 or night wizard manga

Bro, this entire manga is just fan service, don't look for any deeper meaning because there isn't

i wasn't talking about this manga as it main point is slice of life of aboy that has the power to turn into a magical girl it still retains the fun of gender bender different from trans wish fulfilment story that are so boring and bad that makes watch paint dry more enjoyable in comparison

It's not 100% certain, but at this point it's way more likely than not that the artist is planning to go that route. Probably at least 80% likely, if not higher.

They've made all this views of Kakeru as a middle-school girl more like teasers than definite canon.

Why are some people saying this is a trans wish-fulfillment story??? This is like any other GenBen story: weird shenanigans leading to a boy magically turning into a girl + fan service + some romance stuff. Just because the guy eventually falls in love with another man doesn't automatically make him secretly gay from the start. Feminization is an entire fucking trope/tag on its own.

And your stereotypical isakai story just happens to give out wholly busted skills to the MC, often go onto chapter-long tangents about wholesome good food, and regularly have the MC pull out cathartic beatdowns on random characters that were assholes to the MC. That's just following tropes, nothing more.

Quite simply, what makes a story wish fulfillment is how all these tropes go together and their service to the overall story. I refer to Maho Shoujo Kakero, Magical Trans! and Onii-chan Is Done For! as wish fulfillment, as wish fulfillment, because the genderbending + slice-of-life combo is basically the entire plot of these mangas. Yes, there is comedy and romance, but that isn't the primary draw for any of them. They're slice-of-life stories with a magical twist and a decent amount of comedy.

Notably, all three of these mangas differ from your stereotypical gender-bending story in HOW their genderswap magic works. Specifically, the swap is completely at will for Maho Shoujo Kakero and Magical Trans! with both having a startling lack of outside reason to go with the transformation. This isn't Kampfer or Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu; there isn't some deep conflict or significant power increase pushing Kakero or Minami to transform. They just enjoy being magical girls.

Onii-chan Is Done For! is really the only exception here, but as Mahiro is quite literally having to regularly take magic SCIENCE HTR to remain a girl, I think it still counts. Basically, despite romance being a part of Maho Shoujo Kakero, it isn't driving the plot nor is it defining the gender-bending reasoning. The romance between Kakero and their childhood friend exists because this is a story about growing up a different gender, and first love is a big part of growing up. This differs from many other genderbending stories where the romance is the focus of the story and the genderswap is the complication in the whole matter (like say in Ayakashi Triangle).

While I haven't read "Magical Trans!" yet, I think I have to disagree with the other 2 stories (this one and ONIMAI):

- Mahou Shoujo Kakeru: While it is correct that Kakeru enjoys being a magical girl now, it isn't like that initially. He was pushed around by other characters (other magical girls, his sister, ...) to be a magical girl. The manga literally said, "Kakeru's feminization training begins!" (chapter 1). You can't really say that he "voluntarily" becomes a magical girl... In a sense, it's kinda like brainwashing/conditioning soooooooo......

- Onii-chan wa oshimai: Don't get me started on this, reading the atrocious wiki page gives me enough headache already. Mahiro takes TS drugs regularly in order to maintain his current life. Remember, right now, this is Mahiro's 2nd chance at life in a sense. Surpassed by his younger sister who is naturally good at everything, developing an inferiority complex, becoming a NEET,... and then finally, get turned into a middle school girl by his sister. In Chapter 3, he considered stopping being the elder brother because of all those things combined, making him feel like he's where he belongs (after all, the younger sibling being worse is natural) and NOT because he was "Born with a female gender identity". I want to rant more about this (blame the wiki and their so-called "evidence" about how Mahiro is trans) but considering you only mention the "Mahiro regularly takes TS drugs", I'll stop there before I started to look like a dumbass.
