I don't think so the series was always monthly. If I had to guess as the hiatus started right when the anime got super popular the author could have just gone into shock with all the new positive and negative attention this previously relatively unknow series was getting.
The hiatus is due to the authors poor health but they're recovering. It has nothing to do with the anime.
That would be a horrible reason to be on hiatus.
I mean think about it it creates more jobs and more attention to the manga that has the finished story. Not every yuri anime gets a second season. I haven’t seen any that do. The fact this one is is a good sign. It’s way to promote the author, bringing on new voice actors, and increase manga sales.
That is a common reason though for many Series going into hiatus because of Anime project.
Probably because it was rewritten to some degree, slightly abridged and left a couple parts out. It was definitely low effort on the studio's part. A shame, because the beginning of this story is a really strong hook for what happens later.
