I wonder what sort of person actually enjoys these chaotic, sturm-und-drang depictions dragged-out over many episodes, each presented weeks after the previous. To me, it's fundamentally tedious. The drawing surely took considerable time, but the events in this episode could be concocted in minutes, and verbally related in seconds.

So they should just abandon the drawing part of manga and write a book?
In a proper sequential-visual story, pictures tell “a thousand words”. I don't think that readers should bother with supposed action/adventure stories delivered in the form of words but with fewer than a hundred for each month, but maybe if the script were published then the writer would feel compelled to offer more story each month, which would be good. I'd prefer more story, even if just in verbal form.

Hm... Is this your first action manga? 5-7 chapters of one single fight is pretty common thing. And there are lot of action manga (especially battle shounen) where fights between only two heroes last literally dozens of chapters.
Just like you I'm not fan of long fighting sequences too. Here we at least have few groups and different locations, and this action scene is not that long if you read it in one go.

No, it's not, which is why I'm provoked seriously to wonder, as opposed to simply thinking that the producers are off their heads.

But that's because, as I'd said, in all this visual fulmination, there isn't much conveyed. It is like “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Well, not nothing, but not enough. (And I did advisedly note that it isn't delivered in one go.)

Authors and editors are perfectly aware of what they are doing. It's just you and me are not the exact target audience of this trait of action genre. A lot of action manga fans value long fighting scenes equally or even more than the narrative parts. That said, in case of adult oriented and not battle focused manga like this one, there must be much more readers who aren't very fond of endless battles. But as I mentioned before, this fight is not actually that long if you binge the whole manga, for ongoing series though it could be an issue when you get 1 chapter in two months and 90% of it is just action with almost no plot advancement.

I meant what I wrote literally. Were I in the target audience, then I wouldn't have wondered much if at all.

Were there many magazines filled with many images of mayonnaise, I could infer that persons of some commercially significant type liked these images, but I wouldn't know the type.

Seriously. Where is Francine?
And where is Mia?

Why was the fight with Francine just casually abandoned? Wasn't... whatshername... the main girl... Asuka or something fighting Francine before? And Mia vanished about the same time this sequence started.

For that matter, whatever happened to that musical girl that MG Hammer was fighting?
Why are there so many things missing?
