ah some nice warm fresh milk... I don't remember if the butler was a male or female. I feel like they are female.
I understand what do you mean, esp. since Opera usually paired with the girl group when they grouped together. (Like in amusement park, etc)

Umm Opera? Do you think you can have hair like that more often? Also, if Iruma freaks out like we that would be peak!

I'm guessing it counts as a success since he made someone else the king which was Mephisto's real test.

Calling it now: Iruma is a bit traumatized by the incident that happened at the end.
He is there to reflect on what happened, and what would have happened if Mephisto hadn't been there, and the future. And Opera is going to reassure him.

This is an interesting thread of thought. We've seen that Iruma is both hyperalert (which is common for real world abuse victims) and carefully observant. He pays a LOT more attention than he acts like. Like after the 13's Dinner: "Grandpa, do you want me to be the Demon King?"

Pieces are falling into place for our boy to make some deductions about the world around him. Parts of the demon police force seem to be very actively out to get him or derail his progress, and both the people he's met who fall into that camp are related to people who he's interacted with at school.

I suspect we'll see something like, "am I being dangerous to those around me?"

I do think we're about to see Opera make some pretty serious promises to Iruma about his safety.

SLEEP TIME OPERA LETS GOOOO.

And love that the others split up to welcome the rest home too.

And Opera is nonbinary.
Opera isn't nonbinary - they haven't said they're "neither" nor anything of the sort, they said "guess"/"what do you think". They're whatever the fuck they want to be and don't care how others address them.

so obviously it's not my first time thinking it but opera is a many ears right? if so why exactly do demons think that the many ears are incompetent at magic when opera is a fairly high rank demon and the bodyguard/servant of one of the 3 highest ranking 13 crowns member? and it's not like he isn't a well known demon either.

Mom-pera is the best....

Also, I honestly have no idea if he's even going to rank up

I mean I know Amelie was also a rank 6 during her second year, but Iruma reaching it too seems kinda too fast loll

like we still have 5 years to go

He certainly was g-ear-ed up. Too bad the whole class also didn't get geared up.

I prefer Operent. What with the undefined gender.

edit:
Their gender is described in an omake thing as “unidentified, undefined, unknown“ based on my digital dictionary.
Based on the contexts and statements I think “non-specific/unspecified“ works best.
They give no shits what gender they’re viewed as. Second-person pronouns aren’t as much of a thing in Japanese, so there’s no reason to know what most people think or if they do.

They make everyone swoon, like evil-phase Iruma.

edit 2:
Just noticed that the term is literally just “nonbinary“. It’s the umbrella term over things like “X-Gender” etc over there in the land of the rising sun.
🤦‍♀️ Maybe use something other than a frick-fracking e-dictionary for something like this, me.
Noticed because of the title of another manga.

So yeah, their character description at the end of one chapter (posted untranslated at some earlier point) lists them as nonbinary.
huzzah.

I do love the iyashikei chapters this mangaka puts in between the ones that crush you like an empty soda can.
