Why did Allocer look so distraught playing against Orias?

Don't tell me he and Furfur cheated somehow, and he didn't want to go through with it.

He knew through observation and planning that Orias took off his luck generating earrings, and called Furfur in as ordered to force the game. He was basically sent in to kill Orias' rep for Furfur's entertainment.

This Furfur seems to be just an asshole, unlike the main series where he's an ass but still has a mentor vibe to him.

Looks like Orias let one loss really get to him.

It was because that troll plant in the crowd (probably sent by Furfur) had gotten to him earlier, and that one loss without his earrings meant to him that he had no skill at games and it was only his lucky earrings that let him win.

It may be that in this series General Furfur is like a kind of usurer, and Allocer Schneider and Andro M. Jazz had such a debt to General Furfur. And I think/And maybe Orias Oswell trusting his luck in a chess match brought him defeat. And Orias Oswell gambled that star-shaped hair accessory/earrings, the symbol of his luck. Most likely Murmur along with Iruma and the gang will help Orias Oswell regain his confidence.

Its honestly been great to be a fan of this series right now.

Anime is adapting one of my top story arcs.
The main series current story has been great for me.
And this continues to be faithful and a standout, cant wait for its anime adaptation next year.

Ooof. Yeah, only way to get lucky at chess is for your opponent to be in worse condition than you. So of course the person with actual skills in the game would win.

hahaha! I'd made a guess previous that furfur would have been involved in their employment, I didn't think it was a literal transplant lolol.
and also I love and hate this characters growth for orias, he was one of my favorite teachers of the mainline story, so it hurts me to see him like this, but it's a great exploration of a 'lucky' character. I still do place my bids on him snapping out of it with a sense of duty or obligation, seeing as how he wants to fulfill lieds' expectations of him. though I do hope the author nods to the fact that he seems to have symptoms of anxiety
