Groupmate saying “friend” made me think oh another age gap couple in the series?? but those two being besties is great too.

Popular idol just decided to pester a mangaka idol otaku because it’s funny.
I'm thinking they're on their way to cohabitation, if you know what I mean. They've just advanced straight to the "married couple calm," level of relationship.

Please dont go the annoying, overused route of having the side character friends getting together, like every single GL series do, for no reason what so ever🤦🏼‍♂️
lol is like your BLOODY FRIENDS don’t HAVE AN ROMANTIC LIFE !!! wtf is this shit? it’s quite natural to show in stories like this to have side romance!

there’s nothing wrong with side characters to have relationship development tho, especially when this manga has SoL genre in it.
if the author is way focused on the main couple, this manga might be way too monotonous and side characters’ existence will feel like nothing but a passing wind. and if that’ll happening, i bet the author will be running out of idea to develop the main couple too.

Ruri knowing about Hato way before meeting each other was already established early. Ruri knew her manga and it was somehow implied that she was a fan.

The only reason it annoys me is it’s usually because the author doesn’t know how to make “in a relationship“ interesting.
Sasaki & Miyano (BL) managed to do that because of how slice-of-life it was from the off, and
shifting the tone the very moment they get together.
Instantly goes from highly emotional melodrama to gay romcom. like, it happens in the middle of a chapter. Might be in the middle of a page!
Well, it’s more of a down-to-earth thing about being queer in a heteronormative society but it’s hilarious when it tries to be.
The side character thing is relegated to a spin-off(Hirano & Kagiura). There are little extras in the main series manga, but it’s not part of the story. Spin-off is fairly self contained, aside a character from the main series being “the friend who knows about you before you do” and trying to subtly help things along.

They generally set it up from the start these days, and birds flock together irl, but it’s a very tired trope.
I’ve seen a number of manga start out as a gay love story that seems grounded in reality slowly become “Another Yuri Manga”. Here comes their spunky best friend, then the class president and vice president and then the school nurse(🤢) and I just don’t care anymore.
