The king and William's father are totally incompatible. I wonder if that's one reason why James has developed such a disgusting personality. There's probably a constant conflict within him between respecting the king simply for his station and disliking the king for acting in an unrefined manner. James obviously would love to have an elitist king who looks down on all but nobility and other aristocracy. King Andrew, however, is a relaxed man who spent much of his youth associating with all sorts of commoners by being an adventurer. That's exactly what James hates, as is made evident by how he treats his own son, who chose such a lifestyle.
