pretty damning imo.
What is? That's just a thread about how broken the account deletion is on MD. It's been broken for years.
upload change
I've mentioned elsewhere (to you specifically) it doesn't mean anything. MD is just gonna do what they've always done and remove any chapters they get DMCA take down requests for.

It's also dubious as to whether that's a new change or something they moved from elsewhere on the site (like they did with the Privacy Policy)

My suspicion is that because MD isn't doing the scanlations themselves, they would have always been considered an online service provider (OSP), and this is just clarifying that. Nothing really changes with them calling that out - the ultimate legal responsibility for any copyright infringement has always been on the groups/users uploading chapters, not on MD. That's what gets me about some of the groups bailing now - it's not really changing anything that happened before.

Also, we can reference the last time this happened: then, DMCAed serieses were made permanently banned. No new chapters. It's a bit strange to me that we haven't gotten a 100% definitive statement saying this (and so some people are continuing to upload in the meantime), but this will likely be the policy.
What I don't get is why don't they just let people upload new chapters, and let companies waste millions of dollars on manpower required to compile, organize and send new DMCA requests.

Because publishers like Kakao are utterly relentless when it comes to making an example out of a target. Look what they did to Tachiyomi which was arguably just a web browser that depended on a repository for extension just to access sites. The app devs weren't even the ones making the extensions; however Kakao came loaded to bear with threats of legal action. It's a good thing that MD is making sure that all the t's are crossed and i's are dotted when it comes to DMCA take downs.

LOL I've been reading MD longer than most of you. Don't blame me for telling it how it is, and don't get salty when you see info you don't like. It's a bad look. Enjoy the skeleton of a once-great site. Until the rest goes down in a month or two, that is
:pepehmm: you sound like a dejected war veteran who just lost his military pension. get off your high horse!

Anyone got tips for legal/ethical alternatives for the more obscure series? I’d rather not go full pirate mode, but there are some gems that are now practically untraceable.
