Mangadex to purge titles for legal reasons

Okay, if they involve minors it means you should delete any shonen/shoujo series with erotica or above, and then keep removing more and more titles, it'd not be strange to reach at least a 25%. Of course, this would increase over time at the minor suspiction. After removing all that, is it still worth using the site? I don't need another pointless debate where people who don't understand fiction shout louder than others.

The problem isn't that they're shouting louder than others, it's that they got elected and started passing very real laws. Like it or not, there are people who are responsible for keeping the site up and running, and they will potentially bear the punishment (or at least be subject to trial) for breaking those laws if someone decides to start filing charges. I'm not thrilled about this either, but it is by far the lesser of two evils when compared to the site getting napalmed wholesale.

There are things I can tolerate and others than not. Self-censorship? That's even worse than censorship itself, as it's not conceding: it's admitting absolute defeat. It never ends with "some titles" with little artistic value, it'll take series that can only be told that way and keep going with anything it gets a ping. The worst part is removing that metadata, specially since, like others, I volunteered to revise, improve and adapt. Being told "any work you've been doing could be wipped out without your knowledge" only calls for resigning.

Well, considering that crunchyroll still has Astarotte's Toy, I imagine there's still some room for argument for a lenient view on literary merit.

Just a guess, but it's probably mostly the porn manga with minor and adult relationships that are being removed.

Which does include that how to live with a stray cat doujin, btw. She is 100% a minor when the story starts.

Recently MD has started purging titles from the site for "legal reasons". This does not affect just the chapters uploaded but also the title page itself.

This change was first discovered by a user who reached out to a group about reading some of their chapters on MD.

Take this information how you want but it's extremely disappointing that this is happening and even more so that it's trying to be done in the dark.

No. There's no law in any country on the planet that says you will go to jail if a character in a comic book says they 'had a relationship with a minor'. This is a completely made up nonproblem presented to you in order to get you to knee-jerk shut up and not question their bullshit.

Stop the misinformation. Titles being removed depict sexual activity between characters that are minors, either in appearance (handled on a case-by-case basis) or confirmed in the dialogue. It's about law and compliance with it. If you jerk it off to little kids, go and do it elsewhere; there are sites that specialise in that.

I'd have to look back but that's not how it looked to me. Seemed like she was just past it but had reached 18. Not uncommon. It's a useful setup in many ways to make the characters seniors, from a writing standpoint, and not just for the age. No denying she's in high school though.

Either way we'll just have to agree to disagree on the matter. The final decision belongs to the mods anyway.

I skimmed through for story and found that by chapter 25-ish she'd been staying with the salaryman for a year+ and had gone up a grade in high school. JK graduates are typically 18 and rarely 19.
