‪Law and compliance while hosting illegally pirated manga on your site, mhm sure. Surely you’re all about about law and compliance. I don’t view any of this content out anyway, but trying to moral grandstand, while you are already engaging in illegal activity is kinda of weird.

End of service speedrun any% lmfao. get fucked
Stop the misinformation. Titles being removed depict sexual activity between characters that are minors, either in appearance (handled on a case-by-case basis) or confirmed in the dialogue. It's about law and compliance with it. If you jerk it off to little kids, go and do it elsewhere; there are sites that specialise in that.

Ignoring the fact that loli has been on MD for far longer than you've been around, uploaded by site owners themselves, where exactly is the line supposed to be now?

I mean To Love-Ru has the infamous reflections from Yabuki involving Mikan's privates. Are you going to be removing one of the most iconic shounen jump harem manga too?
If you jerk it off to little kids, go and do it elsewhere; there are sites that specialise in that.
This second part is also an issue, it seems you're quite judgemental and antagonistic to something that has been posted or translated by former or current MD owners or admins. I find it odd that instead of trying to be apologetic about something that is supposedly outside of your control you start antagonizing users over their complaints about the removal of titles that would've normally been allowed without a public facing change in policy.

Any additions or uploads to the service that are not compliant will be removed as we become aware of them.

As for the comment by the blue guy, read the Content Policy. It's there, has been for a while now.
The content is legal in the United States though? There aren't any minors involved, rather than purging legal content you should add a toggle and region blocking based on IP.

At what point did pro-censorship anti-freedom of expression people infiltrate the staff?

Yeah this. Rather than an actually tied hands compliance, this feels more like a personal vendetta decision by the team because "we can't advertise the website properly because this icky gross stuff is available". Nothing on this website outside of the redirects from official distributors is compliant, it's 99.9% piracy. Either you nuke it all or you don't, don't sit on the fence like that and make your stance clear.

Fun fact: the first thing ever uploaded to mangadex (going to the URL and typing /chapter/1) was Idolmaster loli yuri, Arisu and Momoka making out in the shower.
But I guess the most famous pirate manga site suddenly decided it's time to censor things.

I remembered an alternative option to handle something like that.
Make an alt site called either Mangasex, Mangadex After Dark or something else to host the NSFW content while being connected to the main site. It's only accessible with a Mangadex Account with a certain amount of use and activity and hidden from search engines with a 403 forbidden, there is also no direct link from the main site or on the forum.
All non-advertiser friendly stuff goes there, and the main site stays clean and pristine like the devs seemingly want.

It's a proven solution that sadpanda took and people are fine with that

Lol, if not even Mangadex staff can distinguish fiction from reality, this site is cooked. Time to find a new place to go.

depict sexual activity between characters that are minors,
So, stuff like KareKano, Kaguya-sama: Love is War and Paradise Kiss, right?

Edit: It's also worth mentioning that people in their 20s or even 30s often play minors (like high school students) in live action entertainment with sex scenes. Despite the age of the actors and actresses, these shows and movies "depict sexual activity between characters that are minors". Of course, we all know that these people are adults and don't think of these situations as CP; but laws, regulations, and rules can be VERY slippery slopes.

Is Made in Abyss, Gushing Over Magical Girls and Metamorphosis going to be removed then?

I know Redo of Healer was removed for unrelated reasons.

I recently saw this drama from a mutual on X and had to come back here after not using this site for ages. Just came here to laugh at the tourist mod who can't distinguish fiction from reality and anybody sharing the same dumb take and defending censorship. Unbelievably funny that a piracy site decided to nuke itself by hiring stupid mods that became anime fans post-covid. Also, don't waste your time here because there are better sites out there and MangaDex probably won't last long with the way things are handled around here. :smugnako:

For a bunch of the folks who keep insisting there are no laws against it, here's the Wikipedia overview on the legality of fictional pornographic works portraying minors:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_fictional_pornography_depicting_minors
Even primary and secondary schools disallow using wikipedia as a source meanwhile you're using it here arguing over legality instead of citing any case law.

Also, genius, you might want to change your pfp since this is the manga where it's from.

The staff and admins are just burying their heads in the sand on their Discord, feigning ignorance until it dies down and everyone forgets about it. It happens every single time they receive backlash for their stupid decisions. Just watch, one of the staff members will post in another thread as if nothing happened, completely ignoring this thread's existence.
