Mangadex to purge titles for legal reasons

I meant in the sense that MD will provide in-house licensed translations and slowly remove the scanlations
Kinda does that already too.

In our day and age you cant just have stuff even when you are not violating any laws.

Fakku learned that the hard way in december. Visa and mastercard pulled the plug and forced them to remove over 7k entries from their website.
Stuff that contained certain tags such as "schoolgirl outfit" "humiliation" "petite" the trainmolester tag and many others

Srsly. Wearing a schoolgirl outfit doesnt make anyone a schoolgirl. Following this logic i could be a brain surgeon when i put the outfit on.

None of that stuff is illegal, they had the licences from the publishers. Still they cant sell it anymore because of powerabuse from paymentproviders

I say this with complete seriousness and sincerity: Anybody on the MD site staff who supports loli bans needs to kill himself. It is the only cure for such mental illness. Such a life has no value and should be ended promptly. This isn't rudeness or an insult, just a statement of fact.
No.

I strongly disagree with people who treat loli hentai as cp because they clearly cant tell fiction from reality. And this is an insult to every real living person that has been a victim of a real crime.

And i as strongly disagree with you when you tell people to kts.

Better edit your post

A big point of concern is how the characters are drawn. There are so many authors who just always draw characters looking young (I'm talking all levels, not just "Mature"), like Lucky Star for example. There have been multiple series where I was shocked at how old the characters were supposed to be. At the same time, there have also been multiple series I've seen where I couldn't believe the characters were supposed to be so young. It's not bad enough that "looks like a minor" is incredibly subjective, impossible to define really beyond the typical "I know it when I see it" hand-wave. It also forces authors to force and limit their styles. The subjectivity in fact makes that point worse because the author will have to go the extra mile to be sure that no one thinks his characters are younger than they are supposed to be.

Sometimes public actions are taken due to policy changes before we've had the chance to completely communicate the changes. While this could be improved to some degree, some matters can put the site's longevity at risk, so it should be somewhat understandable that some titles disappeared before we've had the chance to work out how to word an extra rule or support channel reply. We're not intentionally trying to keep people in the dark about this.

I also believe it's pointless to debate the existance of tags, personal staff opinions, or morality of the content. We just can't have it on the site going forward, it is what it is. It'll be gradually removed as mods get notified, no one's getting retroactively mod-actioned over it, just don't add it anymore.
i hope this site dies

Stop the misinformation. Titles being removed depict sexual activity between characters that are minors, either in appearance (handled on a case-by-case basis) or confirmed in the dialogue. It's about law and compliance with it. If you jerk it off to little kids, go and do it elsewhere; there are sites that specialise in that.
You guys are assholes.

Edit: Wait, this guy only has 11 posts. Is he a new admin?

Accusing people of masturbating to children for trying to read a manga is quite a statement. By the way, if you're about complying with the law you shouldn't be recommending people seek out other sites to "jerk off to little kids."

Luckily I don't read anything like that. Hmm... Could this get SBR banned? You know, because what almost happens? Well I guess it was "what almost happened" so it isn't as severe as the worst of what manga can make. I guess this is targeting the child-looking characters.
As one who lives in Texas though, this is kind of worrying. I do not stand behind Loli enjoyers and the other pedophilic material, in fact I'm rather disturbed by them, but I know how blind older folks and politicians can be. They'll look at any Anime which looks weird and foist it into the pit.
These are troubling times indeed. If I lost Jojo or more importantly One Piece I would flip out.

I really don't care about what content is being removed from the site. I have been on the Internet long enough and know enough people to find what I want.

My problem is how the process was being carried out. Rules that "have been there for a long time", yet never enforced. No communication, a simple "hey guys, shits going down and we need to quickly remove some titles". Etc.

MD owns this platform and so they have the right to decide what can and cannot be hosted on it. I just wish the powers that be would remember the community that essentially helped build this place from time to time and keep us in the loop as "invested partners".

Y'all better go scorched Earth on this. No excusing certain manga because they're popular.

Berserk has the Lost Children arc. Dragon Maid sexualizes the fuck out of Kanna. Basically every ecchi harem manga has at least ONE loli in it.

Remove all of those. THEN we'll see about this site's "longevity"

I agree, I've dropped plenty of manga because they consisted of lolis and shotas, but things like the Texas law and MangaDex being MangaDex sets a bad precedent for us manga fans. Judging on how MD has increasingly became more focused on funding to an horrible extent (remember the AI ads?). For me, it begs the question: how much can they do, and how much they are willing to do?

I'm just glad for the years Mangadex has given us, even with the crack downs. It's a blessing it's lasted this long with ads that weren't too graphic and without them before. I wish I had money to give, but then that feeds into that grey area which may just be the spark that changes sites like this from a gray area to straight up illegal.

It's not "law". This content is just as legal as everything else on this platform.

There are more countries where its illegal to be or have homosexual content, than there are to have lolisho manga or hentai. If this is about being complicit with international laws, when are you going to start banning all yaoi and yuri manga?
