We can't get the fucking Epstein files released but THIS is the hill they choose to die on? Damn those fictional characters sure have better human rights than... actual humans...
Exactly this. If they truly cared about this at least 50-60% of the shoujo titles need to go because they depict sex between underage teens.this “minor” buzzword is so hilarious.
I once talked about this on the Bato.to discord and the admins said they didn't allow sex scenes with “minors” in it and I had to point out to them that when you simply searched for the tag “shoujo” that 1/3 of the results featured it in some capacity. Mainstream magazines like Sho-Comi and Cheese very regularly feature 15-17 year old characters having sex.
Or like this Tumblr blog for erotic fanfiction about Diabolik Lovers which claims to refuse to publish anything featuring “minors”, ehh... cool, but the protagonist of the franchise that's featured in 90% of your fiction is 17 years old... that's a minor.
It's so hilarious how people just use this word everywhere in this without realizing what it means and what they're doing. I can guarantee you Mangadex is full of shit with “minors” having sex in it.
Crime manga too, or anything with Gore tagI would like to know when they will be removing all of the horror manga. Murder is illegal, and I wont stand for it being on the site.
Takedown Request from someone in Japan (maybe he is a part of DLSite or someone related to the author? dunno)why did they remove the umamusume one too??
Any bets on when (or even if) they're gonna make an official statement? It's already been like a day since they started taking down shit.
Here they wanna tell us to not upload that kind of stuff but fail to specify what counts.
Loli hentai? Sure.
Loli erotica? Maybe...
Suggestive loli? Who knows?
Is it gonna be just based on appearance, or also age? What if a character with adult appearance is underage (rare but it happens)? Will it actually be every character under the age of 18, which is like the majority of the romance genre out there?
Furthermore, they haven't said why they're taking the whole title down instead of just chapters, which they would normally do for DMCA cases.
I would like to see full transparency from MD staff:
- The exact reason for the recent policy change
- The options they considered before arriving at full censorship
- A list of affected titles
- The reasoning for wiping all metadata of affected titles
- The very specific definitions of the content they no longer wish to host
Beyond that I would also be interested in a response regarding the slippery slope argument (it starts with loli hentai, it ends with any and all sexualization), and personally I would still like a response regarding EtherealNeko's behavior as a site admin; accusing us of spreading misinformation when the staff team failed to inform us in the first place, abusing their power to shut down the discussion for no reason, and lying about the existing rules or their prior enforcement.
How utterly pathetic and cowardly of them to remove this. Sure am glad alternatives are popping up...
Dont pick too much on this etherealneko guy.As many sites have been doing for the last decade+, you're doing this to appease a power tripping moderator who can't separate fiction from reality and should never have been allowed in. Don't pretend any different
