Hello everyone,

As you may know, I'm the maintainer of MangaDex.zip, a server-side download solution that allows users to download chapters, range of chapters or entire manga directly from their browser.
The service has been sailing smoothly, and while I have stopped developing new features, it has been running without downtime or severe issues.

Unfortunately, due to the rising cost of IT infrastructure, I will no longer be providing the service, starting May 29th of 2026. This coincides with the expiration date of the domain, which will be renewed to prevent namesquatting for a year.
I could be interested with help in the following forms:
  • Nodes to allow more concurrent downloads for end-users (this requires an average of 30GB of cache storage)
  • Proxies, which would be like nodes but not running the download software (this does not require storage but still requires bandwidth)
  • Full maintainers for both the code and infrastructure

If you are interested, hit me up in #dev-talk (@\kuronekoda) and I'll contact you via a DM. The domain is not for sale or transfer unless approved by a MangaDex staff, as it is clearly their IP.

I'll post some usage stats when closing, but as of today I have 43k manga downloaded and 103k individual chapters downloaded (this does not account for API traffic and bots).

Until then, see you!

Updates on the subject.

The website closed a few days ago and everything has been shut down. Took a while because I did not want to interrupt what was running, and some users put in loads of things to download lol.
There's a post regarding the matter for the curious ones here: https://md.iya.at/Blog/002-mangadexzip-is-closing

However, I'd appreciate if previous users of the website would stop sending me death threats via Squarespace's contact utility. It really clutters my mailbox. Thanks.

Almost sounds like you still want them, but sent somewhere else :P

You probably figured it out already, but taking contact info offline for a few weeks (or months - at least until the most "passionate in a bad way" users move on) might help sometimes.

Yeah, that's what I'll end up doing. They seem to have a ton of energy to waste sending me shit, it would've been better if they registered an account here and put something in the suggestion box.
That being said, downloading could be done client-side on the website. I don't know why it isn't a feature yet.
