Oh, wow. "Let me tell you a story about my dead friends....." Well. She primarily meets up with him with objective to observing him. So, showing a suffering side of him to her, might actually help to lay her in the long run. (I know, the goal is a romance in this story, not a horny guys wish fulfilment to get a girl into bed.) But man! That timing!
I'm not sure if I like the look of the bg-pictures (The resulting panels looks like a lot of photocollages), but what I like is, that this might save a lot of time for the author and still yield a presentable result. Artstyle is also important and if there isn't enough quality to it, a manga suffers under it, but in the end if the quality is okay or even good, what really matters is the story. Everything that helps an author to tell an interesting tale is good in my book.
