The bitch and trash princess type, I guess :haa: she even went as far as manipulating the people in the palace to make things go her way.

The princess is being depicted as a strategic schemer but she's a massive moron. The demons almost wiped them out. And now she's trying to restart the war. She's so stupid to not realize that even if her plan did work she'd only be married to the hero for at most a year before they're all wiped out by demons.

Yeah, no. That is not enough to redeem the hero character for me. If this is Shojo/Josei genre maybe I can understand but it’s labeled as Shonen ? Either wrong tag or the author didn’t really know the audience.
I don't get why you think the hero needs to be redeemed. From the story, the worst the hero has done is be stand-offish to the princess. This is after he was practically forced into marriage with her. From his point of view, the demons are evil people who invaded his home and destroyed innocent villages. If anything the hero feels a bit toolevel-headed/reasonable considering his hatred.

Last I checked the demons were winning and the peace treaty is mostly for their own sake. Now I'd for sure be sus of ulterior motives but they really should be treating the demon princess with respect and kindness if only out of fear. they're not in position to treat her badly even if they hate her.

I mean it’s Shounen right ? If he’s gonna be the male lead he need to be at least likable, especially if he’s gonna be the love of the female protagonist whom the reader gonna be rooting for, the bar is gonna be higher. This hero is anything but that.
And also the solution is not satisfying because he kinda broke his character without any forshadowing, he never compromised before, why now suddenly ? I hope there are good and convincing reasons for this development because I really want to enjoy this series but it’s gonna be hard to pull off.
Either
1. He suddenly remember her from childhood which was hinted at before which I could get behind if they pull this off good enough or
2. The king told him to which is gonna be suck or worse yet they won’t be addressed at all.
