To be fair, he is slowly becoming more and more trustworthy toward her. You cannot really blaim the guy as daemons killed all his friends and family in the war.

Also, giving the interactions with knight captain it seems that despite being THE hero he still needs to be careful what he does as nobility of the Kingdom does not seem to be fond of him that much. I am sure our "good" little princess will totally not try to use this against him in the future...

So far the biggest positive side in this story has surprisingly been the king. He is cautious but not with prejudice and he really seems to be the one of the few levelheaded guys in the story. We can see that he is not all powerful either as nobility can influence his decision a lot even if he is agaisnt them. For a king he seems to be really nice person, not even wanting to put Laselotte into prison for the rest of her life despite her being a daemon.
