@Liquidxlax An interesting thing is that a Japanese person struggle to differentiate between L and R sounds because they mean the same thing in Japanese so they never learn to differentiate them. Their brain reacts like if they were the same. The same thing could happen here but with more sounds. Maybe there are many sounds that for him sounds the same so when given an example he keeps repeating the wrong word instead of the right one.
