I'm... starting to lose interest... What's the point in all this if there's this so-called outside force, and the MC just resigns himself to it from the get-go. He's not even trying to fight it.

Honestly, the MC's personality is such a god damn pain ._.

Thanks so much for this.
I have to be honest, this is much better than the other version which was released a few weeks ago. Reading this was smooth and more cohesive (especially with the names - AFAIK, this version is using the names from official english translations from the novels)

gooood TL

Did you miss the part where the capital still exists, and he's trying to skip progression by getting endgame gear?

He's been at this for a few weeks, and gotten more work done than the generals, AS A STUDENT.
Yeah but he's still letting these general events happen, and wants them to happen, no matter how bad they are. He just wants to make those events end on the more positive side.

Dude literally said he hopes that fort falls just so then the hero can prove himself or some shit. He absolutely doesn't want to deviate from the main plot, only the details.

I'm glad you liked it! And yes, I try to use the official names when they are available (although in the last panel I didn't bother checking the name of the location, so maybe that will change)

MC fears a corrective force from the original plot, but at the same time recognizes that if there is one it would have killed him in someway as he did make the story stray.
MC is not thinking very clearly for the mess he is in, overthinking details.
He never heard of the marquis in game, the dude possibly died in the stampede, or is just one of the surviving nobles that made the kingdom resist after it, but of course a normal game wouldn't describe every single detail of every single person that died in the stampede or helping characters that are never seen in the game.
If there is a corrective force is very weak or mostly acting on the hero actions.
Note even how MC interacted with the hero by saving him from being raped and kidnapped, is unlikely that a event like that would have been skipped in the game, MC should know about it, and until then he acted as a background character so is actions shouldnt have changed a event like that.
There is even the fact of the kingdom ignoring artifacts and dungeons, this is a case of the universe wa smade 5 minutes ago and the whole history until then didn't truly happen.

oh hey I can actually understand this one, neat!

Liking how the MC is thinking in-depth about what actions to take and the consequences of his breaking the game progression means. Also like the overall art style, idk how to explain it but the eyes are very front and center all bold like.

The biggest problem he's facing now (which is easier to understand in this translation) is that unlike the original timeline, the kingdom as a whole isn't taking things seriously yet. There's a risk that by stopping the first monster stampede, they won't be able to pivot onto a full wartime footing by the time they realize there's a full scale invasion going on.

Not to mention that he's trying to avoid the widespread devastation in the original plot - if there's indeed a corrective force at play, he's probably expecting the invasion to ramp up in difficulty to "fix" that. His political and logistics maneuvering behind the scenes is his best attempt at bracing the kingdom for impact.

Even though you're right, there are still things just I don't like about the MC's mentality and personality, and I just overall find him annoying.

If the details means "saving 90% of the army and 98% of the civilians" then yeah, I think that's a pretty good job for someone who is flying by the seat of his pants.

One thing I think people are missing, is that somehow, until events happen or he meets certain people, he is only able to remember details from the game. This means that for all his preparations, even knowledge he should have learned growing up is inaccessible to him in its entirety -the game may not have had any details on the Marquis, but it's by no means a minor noble title, so he, being a low-ranking noble himself, should have learned at least the guy's name. One of his biggest worries this chapter is not only the presence of a correcting force, but that something may be interfering with his memories.

Another alternative that he hasn't considered... something could be altering reality on the fly, creating people that were supposed to have been so insignificant to the game that they didn't even receive a name. As a citizen of the world, he'd get retroactive memory about them if he was supposed to have that knowledge, but as a reincarnator, he's able to acknowledge the disparity in his memories.

One way or another, he's acting under the assumption that both a correcting force exists, and that he cannot fully trust his memories of who exists, and what their importance is or will be. He's savvy enough to recognize that he needs to let the corrective force have some wins here and there, or risk it taking more drastic measures that would ensure even greater casualties later. Effectively: He's trying to play 4D Chess against god. Sometimes, you must make sacrifices to put yourself in a better position later. In this case? Sacrifice the fort to gear up the hero.

MC is not thinking very clearly for the mess he is in, overthinking details.
actually, he believes that there is a force that will force the story to go in a certain way, but he is not entirely sure of that, and he doesn't know how powerful that force is, what its range is, what it deems as "MUST BE CORRECTED" and what isn't.
In cases like this, I think it's understandable for him to scrutinize every details, because one small mistake can cost him a lot since this game seems pretty brutal (the first attacked wiped out the damn capital of a powerful country).
He never heard of the marquis in game, the dude possibly died in the stampede, or is just one of the surviving nobles that made the kingdom resist after it, but of course a normal game wouldn't describe every single detail of every single person that died in the stampede or helping characters that are never seen in the game.
you are not understanding the full picture here. MC is very confused about why certain things are obscured from his mind, and he only remembers them now.
He has lived in this world for 10+ years now, yet he doesn't have any memories of the very important royal family members (the Crown Prince & his son, and the first princess).
Also, MC is a pretty studious and knowledgeable person, as seen by first chapter where he recognized the foreigner who tried to kidnap the Hero and all the political implications of it, yet he doesn't recognize Marquis Kneipp (and from what I understand, Marquis are usually pretty big and important families) at all.

That's very strange and definitely has something to do with the game influencing his mind. And if he can't trust his mind & his memories, what else can he trust in this world? That's why he's worried/concerned about this.

Not sure what you're saying here.

There is even the fact of the kingdom ignoring artifacts and dungeons, this is a case of the universe wa smade 5 minutes ago and the whole history until then didn't truly happen.
I wouldn't call it fact that they were ignoring the artifacts, they genuinely didn't know about them. Which honestly is very strange because why would a powerful country known for their military might not know or even bother to check up on the weapons right within it?
This can be explained if the force exists: maybe the force obscured the mind of every characters in this world/country, making them oblivious to things so that the story will go in a certain way. And if we're assuming the force exists and can do that, there are several concerning questions here:
1. What is its range? Does the force control every single being in the world to work in a certain way so that the story can play out like in the game?
2. How strong is its power? Sure it can brainwash/mind control people into misremembering things, being oblivious to things. But can it control a person like a puppet, making them devoid of free will? If that the case, does it mean by remembering his past on Earth & recognizing the world is a game, MC is somehow out of the force's control?
3. Or maybe it isn't that nefarious, it just works in a certain way to ensure the Hero won't stray from his path?

anw this whole force/control thing is fun to think about.

Thank you very very very much for the work!! (way better translation than the other person, which is also appreciated, but this version makes more justice to the original work)

Thank you for this translation; it was so much clearer and easier to understand. Well, "easier to understand" for this rather complex series at any rate :ROFLMAO:

Really like this series draw style but some panels are really hard to fully grasp what's going on, wish the artist would work in the readability of the illustrations :pepehmm:
Anyway ty for the translations, these mangas with heavy dialogue are really hard to work with, so thanks for the effort!
