Thanks for the new chapter! Really great job, looking forward the next one!!

I really like the art, although I can understand not everyone liking it. Obviously not all panels are masterpieces, but I don't have any problems with that.

Not just in terms of taste, but objectively too
That's not what objetivity mean... That's purely your personal taste, in otherword you're totaly subjetive.

If you wanted to be objective you would have taken into account that even background character all have different face, that if you are not blind, you can easily differenciate all character.

People eat way too much generic trash with overly polished "art" and copy past design... No wonder we have hundred of Sword Art Online character look alike today...
People like you are the one that argue that Oh! Great! is bad, because his way of drawing is quite unique, just because you dont like it.

Prolly, it's hard to take what Werner seek on this chapter, especially who doesn't involve or maybe follow magic deep theory stuff series like Type Moon.

To put it simply, what I can understand is MC proposed to reanalyze fundamental again from scratch, so they'll have better understanding on countering enemy magic. This will help considering enemy, especially who can command an army, since they have magic as their disposal.

No, it's objective. If one artstyle makes characters recognizable, and the other does not, in a medium where recognizable characters is a requirement - then the first is objectively better than the second.
It is objective because it is not in a vacuum, and we have a couple value-functions that need to at least pass an "acceptable grade" before it can be considered good for the purpose.

They do not though? Aside from mc (and maybe the hero) they all look alike, as a result of having a more realistic artstyle.

No. I argue it is bad because it actively makes it harder to follow what is happening in the story.

Effectively, yes, starting with the premise that mana isn't just limited inside the body, but in the surrounding area. My personal guess is that one of the anti-magic countermeasure is along the lines of sucking the mana from the surroundings of enemy mages so once they run out of mana, they can't get it back.

I look at the art and I'm thinking Final Fantasy's Yoshitaka Amano cover and manual art.

YES. It's a very bishy, very thin-lined style that, now you mention it, definitely reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano (who has also drawn arts of Castlevania (Alucard being the one everyone remembers, because Alucard is the bishiest of bishes) and The Eternal Champion covers (Michael Moorcock, alas, replaced in the modern day by the SF&F Masterworks Shitty Yellow Cover)

EDIT: "But Soma Cruz though!" "Shaddap, Alucard 4 lyfe"

No need until enemies run out of mana,
just try suck natural mana until their aoe magic become ineffective is already huge accomplish

It kinda spoiler though, haha
