that killing intent toward the principal when he getting too close to Maria clearly meant that the Husband know that maria was his wife. Taiichirou could be just playing along/pretend not to know her because he doesnt know yet her endgame.

So Okaya's plan is ruined, the mom seems to be trying to reassess the situation so her dumb fuck of a son can come out on top, Taiichirou knows Maria is his wife and while he doesn't the know the whole details, knows his son death was not a suicide. Maria should just accept her husband's help at this point, they have nothing left to lose at this point and together, they can be stronger.

Best/strongest and only not corrupt detective. Lost his son. His wife left him. He tries to tough it out. Plot demands him to get beaten by a little shit. Dude still doesn't spiral- now he sees his wife (heavy indication he knows) that changed her looks and had to do sexual favors for this fat scum in front of him and he still manages to feel for her.

He is him and I hope the story goes full throttle now with him going all out.
