Mark chapter as viewed after finishing the chapter

I have a bad habit of opening a chapter and then procrastinating on it. Could it be possible to add a setting to mark the chapter as viewed only after viewing the last page or jumping to the next chapter, instead of on opening which is the only behavior possible at the moment?

Looks good but what happens if (insert group name here) uses 3-5 credit pages at the end of chapter and I skip them?

He asked for an option, not a site wide setting I guess. I think it's a fair feature.

That aside, I was also having this problem, stopping somewhere in the middle of chapter, or when I accidentally click the chapter instead of clicking on the manga title (particularly on mobile).
Nowadays I just left the tab open for days; when I decided that I don't wants to read it in near future I'll just take a little time to visit the entry page to dismiss the read mark before closing the tab.

It's not a bad idea. It may even be cool to have a third eye-icon option that indicates "In progress" by using a different color or some such. It's not particularly hard to go back and re-read one you forgot to finish, though -- it'd still be a nice QOL thing.

@BzzBzz - You been reading those LH manga's eh? lol. Credit pages gettin' out of control.

From a coding perspective, it's hard to tell with 100% certainty when you've finished reading a chapter, this is why the marker is added on opening (since it's 100% certain that you've opened it)

I was thinking the solution to be one where the last page is what actually triggers the marker of completion; which is why I added the "In progress" to indicate it's been opened.

Depending on people's preload settings, the only difference between that and how it is now can be as little as a few seconds of not doing anything

I can already imagine hordes of people annoyed by the "in progress" marker on hundreds of chapters in which they skipped credits pages

For the credit page issue, that'd be easily solved by having them marked as credit pages and the completion of said chapter ignores anything marked "credit page"

@Mrincognito - I'm the type who simply clicks for the next page instead of manually switching chapters or completely closing the tab. I've always thought that's what the majority do when catching up on a series, though. Even if it's the most recent chapter I tend to just click the page as a way to get back to the series page, and then check comments. The only time I've skipped recently is with LHTrans chapters -- who as mentioned, have 4+ credit pages for no reason. I don't think there are very many groups who do that otherwise.

Could always add a preference for how it's tracked in the settings, though. That way it could be tailored to reading style.

For some the flow might be this:
[ul][*]From follows, open the chapter in a new tab
[*]Done reading, at credits pages, want to read comments -> click chapter comments button in reader so as not to have to load the series page
[*]Done reading, at credits pages, don't want to read comments -> immediately close tab so as not to have to load the series page[/ul]

Could always add a preference for how it's tracked in the settings, though. That way it could be tailored to reading style.
More options are always nice, but in a case like this (esp. with a UI change like a three-state reading marker, the ramifications of just that UI element are already a whole thing) the code for doing it each way are radically different it's not worth dealing with resulting bugs and having code for the same action possibly be in multiple places

@Mrincognito - I agree; my reading flow has certainly matched the ones you've shown from time to time -- mostly the second and third to be specific. I'm also one of the people who uses the Legacy reader, as opposed to the newer advanced one, so I'm not sure how that would come into play or how it affects reading style.

What I meant by the preference option wasn't necessarily to be able to designate where you'd like the marker placed, but more akin to: "old way or new way". The only change being coded would be a three-state system; then having the option to just continue to use the present one. Sorry if I was unclear.

It's a suggestion that I could do with or without to be honest. There may even be better ways to solve what the OP's problem is altogether. Like I said, I don't really have trouble with going back to re-read something I forgot to finish. I've just always enjoyed bookmarks and status options to better track things.
