Oh gods. That homeroom teacher reminds me on an art teacher I had in college. It was the most freeform class I ever had, I loved and hated it. Our assignments were things like "Make me something that shows contrast." or "Make a mental "theme park". He had the opinion that with art it is better to ask forgiveness than permission and basically encouraged us to do whatever we wanted and push the boundaries of his requests. You had to be able to explain the piece and all the normal artsy fartsy BS, but otherwise it was a madhouse.
