@CinderKin Yeah, I was hoping for some gradual development, and more licking stones, not this demon-like being sticking to MC because of some 'reasons' that would stretch the plot for who knows how long. And the author just mentioned the effort in this chapter when gaining power had nothing to do with it.

What kind of irresponsible... They just find out he can absorb stones, so they immediately throw him at the worst one they have the very same day. Not stepping it up incrementally in any way, neither for efficiency (as they said, the higher his increase has gotten, the less the lower quality ones can raise. meaning raising with them first and better later would sum to a higher increase (and more skills)) nor as precaution for his safety.

@Karmichel : His sperm donor gave up on him fully when the little bro was born, but the real proof of their idiocy was that this high marshal appears to be able to be as strong as his sperm donor, it not (and likely much) more but was born with a skill that for their purposes is less desirable for a noble or general then what they think Ain's skill is able to do. To make matters worse there were even signs he was not as limited before he they left had the sperm donor still been paying attention, like how he destroyed that suit of armor the day after he got his first magic stone. I get the feeling that the sperm donor's country are to obsessed with the skills one is born with, and have not done any where near enough research into how someone can gain new skills, which if you care about military power is very important.

but from the differing tech levels, it is almost certain that their "new" nation is much more capable in terms of research, so it make ssense for them to know more about skills, and as such the sperm donor's nation should have been trying very hard to get access to that knowledge which sperm donor co just ruined by not factoring in political connections as part of their evaluation.
