If anyone has a reason to be arrogant, it's Ren. She is the strongest human in the series by a huge milestone and has succeeded at almost everything she wants, even gods got their ass kicked, hell she gets called, "Earth's answer"
I don't think there has ever been a better reason to be arrogant.

NGL, when it's all said and done, this feels kinda cheap and underwhelming.
Our protags get a "win" by managing to survive for a single minute against Ren in a competition that, in a way, was rigged against her (she had to moderate use of her powers in a way she normally would not). Not to mention, she only didn't win because Yuuki had some secret power that he and Kyouka didn't even know about. Like, what does that prove? What theoretical application does the outcome of this match actually have? The story clearly wants to start knocking her down a peg, but there were absolutely better ways to go about it, I think.

No, because Ren didn’t even try to use her full powers. One of the rules is to not kill your comrades lol.

I think the point was to prove not to Ren but to the rest of the capitans that she is not trustworthy because of her arrogance. Kyouka went in knowing there is no way she would beat Ren in a real fight, she was just proving a point not declaring herself to be the strongest. It is a cheap win, but it gets the message across.

Ren's arrogance has the rather strong basis of the fact that she is in fact overwhelmingly strong.
It is still her character flaw, though it seems her comedic downfall is usually limited to her reward scenes, who are absolute peak in hilariousness

This was shaping up to be a humbling arc for her from the start considering how dismissive and cocksure she is about the Gods offer. Hopefully she doesn't outright die but nobody dies in this manga so i'm not worried.

Hell yeah, that's the largest possible blow to her image and pride! Their primary goal was survival, and they handled the encounter exceptionally well!
The Kyou-cult will be growing even more now, and Yuu's becoming pretty monstrous if he's able to recover from being incapacitated that quickly due to the energy he's taken in, but it makes me that much more curious about his growth later down the line! I wonder if it'd also be able to be used to regenerate limbs, or be applied to others - that'd make him the ultimate support if he could help others recover, even if it's just their stamina!
