This has the exact same setup as Isekai Ryouridou, complete with the protagonist having nothing but his knife when he transfers, but it seems to be far better at what it wants to do with the premise compared to it.

the TL is cool but...

this is a straight up ripoff of... well see the below comments....

this author didn't even try to make something original, he didnt even hide it😖

i wonder if they have issues with suing and plagiarism in the manga/anime industry?

Story is strange but fun :D

Only thing bothering me: I'm French, and "Popo", is the childish world for "poop" if french >.<"

@Harry_Dong They use animal manure for the fire >.<'
they don't eat it. When dehydrated it burn easily, but the odor and hygienic ares... Let's say bad...

Like others are saying, same premise as another manga but the less serious tones lends itself well to being a cooking isekai. Other one is too serious and the drama really slows down the pacing

It seems fun, but i have to say i am a little burnt out of this stupid concept that people can just eat bad food and be fine with and then some guy pops out and teaches them good food.

Good cuisine is one of the basics of a complex society, people will try to experiment and make new and delicious things no matter the place, the most basic and "primitive" cultures had complex and sophisticated methods of cooking.

And look at their culture you can see they have a well developed cultural identity just by seeing those tapestry, it is offensive that the author thinks he can pass this bs just to serve as an excuse to say "oh look how the MC basic ability is impressive".

I now i am being butthurt here, but i love cooking, i love it so much and i am no expert in the cooking story but i read and know enough to say these people shouldn't need some little Japanese isekai fucboi to teach them how to cook, this is lazy writing.

I will still read it though because i am interested.

@alacaelum I get what you mean, it's absolutely ridiculous to assume a society or group of people only sees food as merely sustenance when food is such a culturally important matter as well!

It's not an understatement to even say food defines an entire culture and how they interact with it so seeing such these people depicted as caring naught for the taste of what they eat is as if depicting them as primitive animals!

@ZeeZle Exactly that, cooking is a thing so important for people to be people.

Cuisine can be so diverse and important in some places that don't even need to go to a different place in a region to see new dishes, sometimes you can find a dozen of different ways of cooking something just in the same place, some of those ways are even passed in a family or community for generations and have such importance.

Here in my country (Brasil) we have a dish called Feijoada it is one of the basics we eat for lunch, to put it simply it is made of bean and meat cooked in a type of stew, but if you go around the country its states and the region in those states you will find thousands of variations were it uses different kinds of beans, meat, vegetable condiments and the way it is cooked changes, even its importance, and way of eating changes depending on where you are.

@Tesla

I never said they ate it. Perhaps I wasn't clear...I meant they used it to cook with, like how we cook with wood, gas, or electricity to produce heat.

@alacaelum speaking of culture it’s part of elf culture to not throw away anything even the disgusting parts so you know that’s their food culture

Tbh I find it weird their taste buds did not evolve to match their food. That’s the only illogical part of the manga.

Just like how animals evolve to not have some taste Like say feeling spicy or tasting savory cause they don’t usually eat things with those kinds of taste.

Realistically they will find his food disgusting and cut his head off.

@greatninja3 I don't know enough about biology to say what characteristic they should or not have, but if these elves seem more akin to base human than the elves we know, so their taste buds must similar to our own, there are many parts of food that we can't deal by nature design, we are much more complex creatures than simple animals.

Sure there are differences in the digestive tract and taste buds of people in different parts of the world but we are all made from the same mold and material and i am not saying they couldn't deal with scum and such, i am saying that is stupid that they only have ONE dish this isnt realistic in any scenario, even a fictional one.

I recommend you read a manga called Otoyomegatari, it has the same central(?) Asian aesthetic but is about our world and the author has such attention to details, she makes the food they eat so delicious and varied.

@alacaelum Cooking is a way to start the process of digestion before you ingest the food. Taste is nothing more than the way we know something is good for sustenance or dangerous:
Sweet and salty flavors come from high nutrients and calories packed food.
Bitter is a way to keep us away from poison.
Umami and Sour are related to fermented food, which is safer and easier to eat than raw food.

We cook on base of this. All the elements are in the elf "cooking" probably they just have limited resources or very strict rules for everything.

Technically the elves were right about the "scum". It is just cooked protein. Chefs just skim it out cuz it looks bad, but you could just as easily just blend it back into the soup, although it will make it cloudy. Its really just a cosmetic thing.

The moral of the story is "don't kill off your cooks for stupid reasons" which is not a moral I thought needed teaching but here we are.

killing the persons that makes your food has to be one of the stupidest decisions a village could made (behind killing your hunters).
