This thread is for suggesting and discussing new tags to be implemented in MangaDex. To suggest a new tag, please follow the guidelines below.

Guidelines:

1. Your tag should represent a broad theme or concept that applies to a wide range of content. Providing examples is encouraged to clarify where it would be used.
2. Tags should be clear, easy to understand. Try to avoid suggesting tags that are too abstract or based on niche references that might confuse others.
3. Avoid suggesting tags that could closely overlap with existing ones. If unsure, check our Tags Definition for guidance, ask if you're still unsure.
4. Provide a clear explanation of the tag's purpose and what type of content it is meant to categorize.
5. Tags should primarily focus on describing content itself, such as its themes, genres, or storytelling structure. Tags that focus on external conditions or processes are not in line with this rule. Other types of tags may be accepted, provided they help users identify the reading structure or navigational format of the content.
6. Tags promoting content that violates site rules won't be accepted.

Important:

Anything falling under the banner of "porn tags" is currently pending a tag rework. We're in need of a system for categorizing these tags that will allow us to flag them appropriately and segregate them from the main list of tags.

Below is a list of suggested tags that meets the previous requirements. This is not a list of tags that we will add. Only if the tag meets the requirements, it will be added to the list. Porn tags are excluded from this list.

Suggested tags:

  • Age Gap
  • Childcare
  • Idols
  • Economics
  • Educative
  • Short Comics
  • Kingdom
  • Enterprise
  • Cute Girls Doing Cute Things (CGDCT)
  • Maid
  • Banishment/Abandoned Protagonist
  • Farming/Agriculture
  • Child Abuse
  • Power Fantasy
  • Game Elements
  • Romantic Subtext
  • Iyashikei
  • Journey
  • Dungeon Crawl
  • Politics
  • Robots
  • Kemonomimi

When "System" is not in the title, my best way is to search for genre Supernatural.

You could largely replicate this by searching for Fantasy (or Isekai), plus Video Games, Traditional Games, or Virtual Reality, without adding a new tag. There's been several dozens of threads requesting new tags, some with more justification than this, but the mods have been universally against adding new tags that overlap with existing ones.

[tag] maid

This tag would be used when someone in the main cast:
Is female/female presenting (lel) and works as a maid and/or: wears the stereotypical maid clothing (dress, apron and hair binding thing) more often than not.
This definition is intended to reflect the common understanding of the word and includes female houseworkers that are actual maids but don't wear the stupid victorian era headdress, and characters from the naughty books who are not actually seen doing house work.
There are lots of manga with maids in the main cast because mangaka are degenerates and so are we add maid tag simple as

To be clear, I mean either wearing a maid outfit most of the time and/or being female doing maid work. Because being male and doing maid work is a manservant or w/e. As far as most people are concerned if a character is always wearing a maid fit they should be maid tagged.

Edit: the "looks female enough to me 😏" rule applies with this definition. Open to all options with defining this tag tho, I just want maid tag simple as.

In Advanced Search you can ban Web Comic. It will remove all the twitter's manga.

Webcomic also encompasses webtoons and stuff like jump+ series which I like. I just want to get rid of the single-digit page twitter stuff
Hum, I see the problem. You can use the Tag exclusion mode on "AND" instead of "OR", and you can ban Web Comic and oneshot so that you won't see them.

Hi,
I would really appreciate if you could add a tag for farming or agriculture.
There are a ton of farming themed manga (isekai and others) and it would be nice if you could find them by filtering a tag.
best regards

But that's not a oneshot... But yeah, they don't really like to add tags but right now a lot of people ask to add somekind of tags so maybe SOON??..

Less than 10-12 pages tag and social media tag

(I posted this here because for some reason didn't let me post in the main suggestion forum)

There is a specific subset of web comics that are twitter one pagers, which I don't understand why aren't them treated as illustrations because even in the case they have 2 o 3 pages is usually just the same repeated image with minor changes. Most of them are terrible and the laziest thing, the "here are my tits and that's it" kind of shit. And worst of all is they are uploaded by the dozen everyday, it's a continous feed of slob.

One shots can be any number of pages, and some of them are published on Jump+, so just the web comic tag and one shot are not enough. I think there should be a tag for 10-12 or less pages at least. It could be mixed with suggestive and one shot tags to have full control of it and not lose legit good twitter mangas like The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy at All.

A social media tag would also be helpful in similar lines and more concrete to this problem. Treating the same kind of feed from a legit webcomic site and twitter isn't helpful.

I'd analogize it to the 4-koma tag since the suggestion here seems to be more about the story (?) structure than the actual publication route. I'd suggest 4 pages or less since 10 pages can actually get quite a bit of storytelling done.

Is there a good community term for these one/two/slightly more-pagers?

While I understand the sentiment, these comics are the same format as Garfield or Calvin&Hobbes or Dilbert.
Those are legit publications and quality varies everywhere.

In my opinion it's better to give a tag to "one page per chapter" works, which can be combined with "oneshot" to identify one-page-one-chapter releases.
This tag would include multi-chapter works like Wonder Cat Kyuu-chan but these are identified by the lack of "oneshot" tag.

It certainly would be a boon to be able to have them classified, which could also be used to influence popular sections to better reflect reality, unlike how currently they dominate the popular sections

That's why I said an option for less than x pages, I said 10 to 12 because that's the normal amount for a manga chapter in a weekly serialization, but probably there's a discussion to where draw the line. I remember there was this manga, Minamoto no Monogatari I think, and every chapter was like 6 pages long. But I don't think one page per chapter is useful because these comics can be some few pages sometimes. And that's why I also mentioned the social media tag too, given there can be serializations with few pages, this tag would give more filtering options.

The idea is to give an additional filter for short content with this and help filtering with other existing tags for this specific case. You can say it would be useful for those people who like that kind of content too.
