his total disconnection makes me not think of him as an asshole, but as something worse like a mental issue, jesus fuck

Idk I still think he's trash. He was either a senior in high school or older than that, by the implications of this chapter, and she was only a middle school girl. Thats creepy as shit and plays into grooming imo. At his age, he's too damn old to be looking at middle school girls and trying to play around with them (which he apparently did since he never thought they were in an actual relationship). She was naive and innocent, as she should have been since she WAS a middle schooler. Thats anywhere from 11-14 depending on how long he tutored her for. While he was older, experienced, and clearly knew what he was doing. He may not have intentionally broken her heart or explicitly told her to date whoever approaches her, but he sure as hell played a huge part in forming a mental and emotional trauma + distorted her views of healthy romance. But this is japanese manga so I'm not suprised they love that underage shit.

I agree, this character development for Meguro seems too significant to be relegated to a side/bonus x.5 chapter,
though understandably Meguro probably isn't going to be bringing this up with Koga in quite the same way as she does with her friends here.

@DirkHardpeck This whole time haven't considered the idea that he could be older, even though there's no evidence to the contrary. The best case scenario here is a college freshman dating a girl who is about to enter high school, which is at the very least uncomfortable, if not straight up illegal, even considering Romeo and Juliet laws or whatever.

I still love him
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I wouldnt be with Koga if I hadnt been with Sensei
Thats quite the twisted logic there, but Meguro gonna Meguro.

@justforthelulz
I hope she does, Kogas Reaction would be hilarious either way.

on the one hand if he actually gets rattled by it, it would actually bring about some more personal obstacles he would have to overcome.
If he just rolls over and deals with it the comment section would be on fire for days.

@DirkHardpeck
the average ages would be 14 for middle school senior and 19 for high school senior.

@koikun
it would be great if he did comeback, as a student teacher , that immediatly starts relationships with several of the highschool girls.
I mean hes already shown he has no moral quandries with taking advantage of a naive underaged girl, so whats a couple of highschoolers here and there?

@DirkHardpeck @Ohgodpleaseno It's possible he was a rounin, basically taking a year off between high school and the uni. So, he was home tutoring to save money to move into his own apartment in a distant town, close to his future education institution.

@Ohgodpleaseno " I don't think it's the norm for highschoolers to have their own place" apparently going with by manga standers it seems ALOT of highschoolers have their own place ESPECIALLY if their families rich and even for the non rich people aka lets say village people some of them will live alone in Tokyo just to have a better future for themselves

the shitty tutor messed up so much her head that she can't see how much of a faggot he was, even after someone pointing it out...

lol go reread first extra he show up, it pretty much say he is a honor student with a recommendation, so he probably was just tutoring to save money and move out after he graduate and finish tutoring meguro as a extra (and you see him with his uniform too, so he most likely was at end of highschool 18ish)

Yeah, this was an actual chapter despite official numbering.
Meguro's learning more about herself through talking with others, and that's a good thing.
She's hopefully got a solid pair of friends with Aya and Rika.

As others said. This is not a bonus chapter. It's regular chapter of great value.
Damn, this is a masterpiece. Meguro is not "broken" by "the scumbag". She doesn't hold a grudge. She is even grateful. That's a good lesson for all haters.
And goddamit, this smile....hnhnnnnngh. I'm so glad that she has such good friends now.
Speaking of haters, Aya as self-insert is funny. And how she says "Nao's million times better", it's so (lol) true (lol).Author mocked all haters real good. Now I have a response for all freds and related:

Wow, that tutor pisses me off so much.

Not just what he did to Meguro but how nonchalant he is about it. He doesn't even see what he's done to begin with. He literally used Meguro to burn some time and then walked away when he didn't have any legitimate reason to stay with her. It's not that he purposefully played around with her heart just to break it but he naturally believes that if it's too much trouble or inconvenient for himself, it's fine to break their relationship without caring for what the other person thinks. It's as if he never learned basic human socialization skills and learned only to care for himself.

If there is a confrontation between the MC and the ex-tutor, I hope that the author doesn't brush it off with something heart-warming like, "Oh, I understand that you only care for yourself but Meguro is different now, please walk away." I hope that the tutor gets FUCKED UP. Like, majorly. Idk,

I've never been so annoyed at a manga character before in my life to write this much and I feel like, with the mood of this story, there's not going to be enough consequence for the tutor for his mental attitude.

Something ominous is telling me that this man is going to come back at the apex of the manga, and we’re going to have some intense drama. Hopefully that’s wrong. It’s unnecessary. Meguro already is having some good character development here.

@alexk6340 this manga is designed to either piss you off or subvert your morals, probably both
see how he paints this sleezebag (her ex-tutor) as someone innocent, a free-spirit, when in reality, men are not innocent; humans have abstract capable brains for making complex bonding, may it be friendship, love, admiration, you name it;

this author is using 'vanilla' as means of subversion
