I think it is the opposite, the fact that it was a google product yet not treated like one is what killed it.

I mean you would think google would just make every android device be it phone, android tv or etc as part of stadia. Instead, what we got was useless hardware.

Why in the world would you be trying to sell hardware for a streaming service? Its like netflix selling rokus to watch. If they did that netflix would have failed too.

Google has always focused on software and let 3rd parties do hardware, with exception of nexus/pixel whixh generally tried to expirement with things other vendors wouldnt
