Shoot that was a great overall chapter. Man I love this manga. Always a nice mix of action, drama, romance, silliness, etc. but this was great. Hiro and crew got to flex a bunch and they ran into a potentially very dangerous switch up. Man I can’t wait to see what the next chapter has. Mother Crystal looks like the size of a planet.

I mean yeah that was basically already said. the robots make sure everyone is doing well overall and leave the small stuff to people

This scenario could happen in the game too (it happens in many games in fact), so he might have experience being the bait for a huge swarm more than once.

Like if your team miscalculates their firepower wiping the enemy defense early and your fellow skirmishers aren't as mechanically skilled to fight off the small ones, so as one of the better players you'd have to step up or you risk wiping your group's expensive fleet.

It's like suddenly triggering a boss' second phase even though your skill cooldowns, buffs and resources are still far from being refreshed.


Maybe a few skilled players would do this tactic intentionally too. Speedrunning with high firepower without slowly wiping out the smaller ones and then proceed to create distractions near the mother crystal.

But honestly, they know his position and there's plenty of targets that aren't lining up with him.
Besides at this distance it'd even be a miracle if they hit him unless the swarm completely surrounds him.

In an era of space age exploration, most device any if not everything can likely be accessed by the AIs. Banks, weapons production facilities, remote control tranport vehicles, you name it, the AI could hack into those and bar/freeze any human plans or development. They won't even get a chance if the wanted them dead. The only reason humanity is alive there is because the inherent code in AI is still to be of use to humans.

On a side note I wonder how the crystal lifeforms track their target, in Elite, radar detection and the lock-on use heat signature, which is why players developed 'cold running'
