He is panicing pointlessly and were it not for the supporting characters, might even give in and become the princes' lackey. Meanwhile the prince himself currently has no way to touch him - his ships cannot be sunk or borded without an invitation and no one even knows his identity, plus the ships themselves can change appearence freely. He can sit tight and try to wait the prince out, or vanish without a trace the moment he's bored of it. There is no need to feel threatened or even threaten the country. It's enough to make them understand that he either cooperates on his terms, or not at all.

People in the comments are acting like the gods watching Wataru, they’re sick of him trying to avoid conflict when they heard people from Earth change the world via becoming powerful kings, sorcerers, warriors, etc. and Wataru just wants an easy life.
To control the seas he would still need pretty much an army of people he can trust to sail his ships, even assuming he can unlock enough of them. That army will need to have their basic needs met so... it's no different from establishing a new nation, even if it's a relatively small one. Dude doesn't seem the type.

I don't believe there are any warships nor will there ever be are in the catalog of available ships. In the beginning that Creator God state that if they gave otherworlders a powerful skill that they would end up running wild and do as they pleased and reeking havoc so he gave him the "weak" skill. So I don't think the Creator God will allow the option of any ship with guns on it. The MC was probably chosen because of his meek nature and boring personality. Now if he can only be influence more by Ines then he can reek that havoc by using his indestructible large ship that have an impenetrable barrier summons as bombardment munitions and crush towns and cities with them. Anything can be use as a weapon of mass destruction if you have enough imagination, creativity, and ingenuity.

Ah yes, then why did he join the politic intervention and the war to begin with? He's contradicting the premise and his motto even on this chapter. Idk about you but MC act like 12 years old if he's that easy to get deceived by stranger (the girls) with nothing in return
It is like that for a while; but, he does try to make an active effort into getting a harem. Only to realize things have gotten awkward; and, he can't figure out how to approach them, without it being creepy or shallow. Basically, he sucks at setting the mood, and it's causing things to stall out.
his companion is right, at least he's not a total wimp mc like the other japs mc, who cowers in fears of the country even if he had the power to single handedly destroy it in the first place

Any boat he summons is a impenetrable and indestructible fortress and has no need for guns. He does however have two very capable mages with siege tier spells and a powerful party of adventurers as support.
So between battleship artillery and the magic of his female bodyguards, I think the bodyguards are way more handy to have. Not just in versatility, but also mobility and rate of fire.

The girls he attracts are people he trusts. Also, if anyone goes against them, they get ejected from his ships. So he might have an automatic means of this stuff. Also he went out of his way for them, and they are going out of their way for him. They like him and the luxuries his ships provide. That is trust.
