How much surprise would it be if Miko’s dad just casually greet Seto as his old friend.

I'm generally assuming that Seto knew Mamoru/dad in some capacity at some point in Mamoru's lifetime and that Seto isn't there just to exorcise Mamoru from the house but was counting on Miko arriving so that he could communicate with him.

This link has picture of earbuds more relevant to what kid Mamoru was wearing in this chapter, the Sony MDR-E252, the first of their "NUDE" ("Natural Unequalled Dynamic Earbuds") in-ear earbud range from 1982. (I think Sony did away with the "NUDE" acronym shortly thereafter.)

The earbuds in the photo aren't an exact match for what Mamoru was wearing but I'm generally assuming that the flashback takes place within a year or two of 1990, one way or the other, so in-ear earbuds had already evolved a bit from Sony's first offering. Or they could be in-ear earbuds from one of Sony's competitors like Panasonic or JVC, I don't feel like pouring over thousands of images of Japanese in-ear earbuds from the late 1980s or early 1990s to find an exact match.

The fact that you even dare speak of entitlement with regards to this means you're either totally ignorant or shameless to an inhuman degree. At least read the relevant threads before sputing nonsense (and if you had and still have the gall to write this, then simply fuck yourself, preferably sideways).
Or, y'know, I just have a sense of perspective.
They've been accepting donations for years. While it's fine as long as it's meant for supporting the site without ulterior motives - those definitely were there. They've been planning to go "legit" for almost as long and the main motivation was building up a big enough user base for appealing to big publishers whom would buy them out (including user data). Your donations did not help maintain the site, they were just a little bonus on the investment.
A lot of assumptions there, but I'll go with it. So... what? If they can go legit and do it right, more power to them. If they had done so already, the site wouldn't be under attack now. It's silly to think the site could go on like this forever without drawing notice.

I haven't ever donated to the site (remember, it's completely voluntary). I've been reading manga here for more than 7 years and haven't paid a dime. But even if I had, I think I would have gotten my money's worth. Building a site like this ain't easy or cheap. They don't owe me, and they don't owe you.
They've sold out to NamiComi. While they refuse to admit it outright, it was mentioned that NamiComi would be taking over. What, we're supposed to believe a corporation is just "helping out", because they have (and I quote) "the legal framework"? I've no idea what kind of an idiot one would have to be to swallow this, but clearly the staff here sees us as such.
This is neither here nor there. Again, they don't owe you.
Legal risks? You mean like this one, where they immediately caved in and are so protective of the guys that threatened them, that they even refuse to say who it was no matter what? That and the idiotic excuses for why there was no heads-up or anything... they were willing to take no risk at all to their "legit" scheme.
If the publishers had wanted to, they could have come at MangaDex with the big guns right from the start. You can't really believe that there is no risk in running a site like this, no matter how much they're willing to cooperate with legal actions.
On the contrary, they're eager to throw anyone under the bus. I'm not even mad about it, since there was no way in hell a company from the other side of the world would actually shell out for a legal process that will gain them nothing. I just find it terribly pathetic, even more so that somene considers them heroes for such spinelessness...
What do you want them to do? They have no legal ground to stand on. And I'm not sure who exactly has been "thrown under the bus." They simply stopped hosting the illegal scanlations that were DMCA'd.
Oh, so you mean the people who made the site just did it for shits and giggles, not in any way encouraging anyone to scanlate and upload here? I'm starting to think you have a stake in this little simping act, it sounds just like the BS defense the staff gave.
It doesn't matter if they "encouraged" anyone to upload here. Look, if you illegally upload a bunch of movies to Youtube, and somebody comes after Youtube, and the movies get taken down, you can't be mad at Youtube. No one made you put them up there. Take responsibility for your own actions.

Good day, sir.

Miko better clap his cheeks sideways if he touches her dad. And clap the mafia ghost's cheeks sideways while she's at it too.

In the beginning I thought it was actually Miko and was confused, but thought: "He probably fell in love and can't move on from 'black haired beauties'". I was right about the last part lol

I'm just happy that Michiru and Pii-chan are fine and Michiru is as gay as ever. Bless that gal. I wasn't expecting the "Shiny Lambda Rabbit" card to be played so soon though.

Not much to say about the cliffhanger that hasn't been said already, boy, this is going to be a long wait for the next chapter.

Noooo, leave dad alone! We even got to see a backstory of him and mom! ...
That probably explains why Miko can see... Since her dad could as well. Except he was a gloomy kid and didn't talk to anyone regardless.
cuz he could see the ghost way to clear bro, that’s way he is alone, except our MC, she can really pretend she can’t see them

DAD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a bad feeling when his portrait broke and Miko's Mom got a cut...
Never have I hoped for the safety of a dead character more than now.
Thanks for the TL.

This story has very loose/slow plot development. (Observation.)

Okay, but characters show very little initiative/communication.
  • Miko has seemingly never (really) sought tutelage about her abilities.
  • Nor has anyone really stepped up and offered to be her mentor. (Rom has provided some help, but he is far from being her mentor/teacher.
  • Miko has received almost no information about the spirit world. Consequently, she's clueless about Seto.
  • No one has explained to Julia that Miko sees things differently. If they had talked about it openly for a few minutes, Julia's misunderstanding would be cleared up.
  • Miko hasn't sought any help or explanation about her father's ghost.
  • Miko has made only the mildest of attempts to learn how to deal with these things. Instead she just stumbles around with no knowledge, no plan.
  • After encountering Seto, Miko doesn't go to either Mitsu or Rom for assesment of him. This is just basic. And it's especially obvious/crucial in the world that Miko is in.
The whole series is an an exercise in (almost) total passivity.

Note that Miko's ability is entirely passive. Also note that I said "almost", there are some important times when she takes some initiative -- but even then she rarely has a plan other than "I'll just go to that obviously dangerous place.)

Prime example of passivity: After all the setup of the Michiru arc, after all the clear indication that Michiru is a yandere stalker, the whole issue is solved passively by Hana with Hana not even knowing that she's fixing Michiru. Nor does Miko even worry about - she just concludes that Michiru won't hurt Hana - when in fact, Michiru comes within a hairs breath of viciously assaulting Hana.

And probably it's not going to. Tomoki Izumi (Mieruko-Chan author) is a chill guy, he likes the unofficial translation from his fans. I don't think he will ever try to take down Mieruko-Chan Mangadex page
I've never heard of that before, when did he say anything about the unofficial translations? :0

Pending plot points
  • Why is Dad sticking around?
  • Why does he have pet attack monster spirit?
  • Did Mom know that Dad really could see ghosts? (Could/would he really hide it for their entire marriage? At least about 16 years.)
  • How good/bad is Seto?
  • What policing forces exist in the spirit world? Is there any governing organization?
  • What's up with the mysterious/dangerous guy semi-stalking Miko? Who is he? Why is he stalking her?
  • What's up with the stone that was broken when the temple ghost/god was "defeated"? (Seto is involved/investigating.) Presumably this is an "even worse" bad.
Complaints
  • Why did Rom get mentored, but not Miko? Also, Julia doesn't seem to have gotten much mentoring.
  • Is Miko ever going do something (substantially) pro-active with her abilities?
  • Will these people ever start talking/teaching (and thus avoid the prolonged misunderstandings and failure to see warning signs)?
