• Masaki and Aizawa surely knew each other, between Masaki calling her "Honami-chan" and the startled look Aizawa gives her on page 23

you know what, i zoom and checked because i wasn't sure but when Aizawa look at Masaki, she got heart eyes. I'm not joking, just zoom in and look.

My speculation would be that Masaki doesn't know Michi personally, but did know of Michi through Aizawa, and her connection to Aizawa is why Masaki is interested in her.

100% this.

Also, Masaki is not toxic at all, she's just a shit-disturber. She's just having fun being chaotic (and I love her for it). Plus, Honda is clearly fine with it all (dishing out a lot of banter back) and Micchy had so much fun she's now going on about wanting to expand her horizons and such.

If she was toxic she wouldn't accept Honda's strong replies to her chaos so calmly and the author wouldn't have drawn her cutely (eg chibi) so many times. She's clearly meant to be just a super chaotic gyaru with no filter.

Also, she's gonna make Aizawa jealous at school, which is gonna be both hilarious and useful for moving her relationship with Micchy forward.

In short, another 10/10 character for this 10/10 manga.

EDIT: oh, one more thing, all signs point to Masaki being Honda's only real friend before Micchy came along (she mentioned Honda talks to everybody, but doesn't make friends). So while she looks like a bad friend to some commenters here, she seems to actually be a very good friend when you think about it.

The fact that Aizawa was looking straight up Masaki's skirt at the time might have something to do with that.

Well, guess I'm a Micchi and Honda shipper now. They're too cute. Reona-chan deserves some loving, too.
Masaki seems quite sus, but it could be a red herring. Stonks for her being really bad are rising quickly, though.

I can't help noticing that after “that one girl” Masaki also starts talking about their auditions.

Maybe there was some girl who has lost her inner composure when they flunked her and thus she did something horrible to herself or to a successful idol. And by “something horrible” I mean the real cause behind one or more of the following things:

① Aizawa's death,

② Aizawa's lingering attachment / regret / desire / whatever,

③ Michi's apparent amnesia about the fateful August / summer festival,

④ the mysterious gathering of malicious spirits around the school before Aizawa died,

⑤ the ghost that haunts Ange and probably haunts the whole De:Lphinus.

For the latter, I guess, a vengeful spirit of the flunked girl is a good candidate. Or a vengeful spirit of a successful girl who suddenly becomes unsuccessful (and thus very jealous towards the living idols) because she is brutally murdered by the flunked girl in cold blood while the rest escape with their lives and can form an idol group without her. Or…

…by the way, we are not really expected to blindly follow Masaki's words. (She might be an unreliable narrator of past events.) Maybe there have always been two or three such girls, not just one.

Additionally, if we follow the trope of “Tasogare Otome × Amnesia”, then a pretty likeable amnesiac ghost could have an ugly repulsive knowledgeable shadow. Michi has lost her memories of the summer festival and some of her powers, but her shadow “imouto” (little Michi) seemingly remembers everything. What if Aizawa has lost her voice because she also has some shadow “imouto” who will be perfectly able to speak when we all finally meet her?
