Welp... sweet ending.

Curious why this rushed ending.
Apparently mangas are given an initial runtime between 2 to 4 volumes (about 15-30 chapters). So most series are first planned to be wrapped up in this runtime. If the manga bombs, they could be cut early, but if it's popular they get an extension.
(this information is based on Monochrome Days, a manga about writing serialized manga)

Based on that, I personally guess that this is just the intended end of the series. It's not rushed whatsoever (although maybe they still left a few loose ends) and pretty much told the story it wanted to tell.

HOLY SHIT, WHAT AN AMAZING ENDING. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but the last page implies that he did it with Mii chan, meaning she's a human, also not to mention there's another black cat in the morning, which means they both adopted another cat, since Mii chan is now human permanently. I'm kinda glad they didn't include the sex scene, since... reasons. Still, I loved the journey and enjoyed the ending. 9/10

While that might be true, I believe the author has two other series being published at the same time and this was the one they decided to end to focus on the others.
