I have to prepare a DnD Bard character that is so aloof, he is only allowed to charisma check once a week(or twice a week)

Its a very hard line for parents to find the thing that would benefit what the children want and needs. She might think that with the jobs, she can offer him money and career opportunities for him to succeed. Unfortunately she failed to be there as often as she would like. It was obvious that she does want and did try to do so (Maybe bringing Yuu into the same career as her so that they would be together more), but you have to remember that she was a single mom. No reveal on the dad.

I respect your decision for not liking the mother, but I hope this clarifies that we can understand her without necessarily forgive her (Yet).
I have to disagree. Being a workaholic is a lot easier for a parent than actually trying to balance family and work. Jobs have easy to follow rules, you can advance and get rewards. It is simple. And if it's something you actually enjoy doing, all the better.

Parenting isn't like that. Nobody is encouraging you or congratulating you. As long as your kid doesn't shootup a school, no one will really care how good or bad of a parent you are. For some people it can be rewarding. But for people who enjoy working and getting those rewards for their effort, it is nothing but a drag on their life.

So people retreat into their jobs, providing monetary support and nothing else. Funny thing is they would think they are a good parent.

Yep, they are human and frail and weak, having a tough time and nobody is perfect. But they are still taking the easy way out.

Anyone else finding the attitude the sisters are taking really annoying?

It was in this moment Yuu realised the kind of mess fate had in store for his future. Good thing he responded to the challenge.

Thank you, I appreciate the response and trying to provide a different perspective.

I think my issue with it is there are many moments where the manga try to underwhelm the mom's toxicity by framing it as yuu not really knowing what his mom was really like, and therefore not understanding why his relationship with his mom was like that. But that shouldn't be his responsibility. Its a parent-child relationship, it falls on the parent to nuture their children, its not the child who should be the one trying to nuture it, they're suppose to be the learning from the parent. I went back to chapter 1 to see what the mom is like(i think there is another chapter where we hear from mom but i don't remember). my main issue is that she really doesn't put any effort into helping yuu. And yea, this is from yuu's persepctive, so maybe we'll get a chapter later on finally seeing things from the mom's side, but as of now, you can argue that she really hasn't put in any effort for being there for yuu untill her passing. yea yuu said he did distance himself from his mom, but we don't ever see the mom try to be there for him really. Again maybe there was a chapter like that and i don't remember or we just haven't gotten there yet but still.

The other thing was how in the hospital, when yuu monalouge how the mom wanted that same kind fo family relationship as well, we never see her attempt to do that with yuu, like i said above, that shouldn't be yuu's responsibilty (or at least majority responsibilty), that should be on the mom's, but we never saw any of that.

i see what you mean, ig thats the trophe of parent wanting their child to their successor and putting pressure on the child, which is very unhealthy. Yea i do hope we get an answer about his dad or have an arc where we will look through the mom's persepctive.

Ig my issue is that it feel like it setting to be where maybe in the end, there is going to be a moment where yuu thanks his mom for his relationship with the sisters. If it does that, im going to dissapointed because that credit should not go to the mom, yea she got yuu into that household, but nuturing the relationship with the sisters was all on yuu.

To be clear, I do understand the mom, as someone who has dealt with very toxic family, I understand what kind of person she is, I understand her, but there is a clear line between understanding her and forgiving her, there hasn't enough stuff to forgive her.

Thank you for reading, apologizes for any misspellings, im just trying to give my reasonings, I have no problems with anyone who disagrees with me, I hope everyone is able express their thoughts openly without any hate.
I think previous chapters this manga highlighted how talented people are made to be so intensely focused on his talents by the expectations and pressure of others, family and society at large to the detriment to their own and others' necessities.* Yuu's mother was like that and he knew it. He tried to make her life a bit easier by supporting her for her to spend less time focused on her work and more with him with mixed results at first.
Yuu's try-outs of acting were more third parties' expectations and pressure more than Yuu's or his mother's will, but they still scarred Yuu and nobody called them out on it. It was only after her mother was out of business in the hospital that she realised who would have been spending time with, but by then it was too late and she could only secure a home for Yuu after she was gone. It was his experiences with his mother's talent and the consequences that drives Yuu to support the sisters to that extent.
I agree she won't win any Mother of the Year awards, but with the kind of environment she was in it was kind of expected she turned out that way (she was RAISED that way after all). At least she realised her mistakes and tried to make amends, even if too late and too little.

* IRL Japan has this very serious problem with this which causes a lot of grief and even suicides.

Everything points to a true harem ending.

If the author does anything other than that then I genuinely think readers should rip and burn the books

Yuu says he's Talentless but throughout this manga he has shown that he has a talent in becoming a host or something similar

If only he knew to do this on command he'd be perfectly fine in the world

I only accept two Harem endings: either they leave it open a la (Insert open ending Harem here), or they have a multi ending where there's no sadness that he didn't choose someone's best girl (a la BokuBen).
