You sure about that because I don't see it that way. Every time she thinks he's being the slightest kind to her she lets her ego take over and starts taunting him for giving her attention.

I don't think it's that easy. He already has another girl that he talks to, and they seem to be on pretty good terms. When our FMC found out, she had gotten jealous that he has his attention on a different girl and had tried extra hard to get his attention. Pretty much throwing away her pride in the second chapter.

This boy makes no sense and I don't buy the "it would ruin the field trip" excuse. I know we need conflict for the funny but surely there are scenarios that would lead to some solid jokes without breaking character.

Right, but probably the only viable explanation for his actions and the fact that he never reported her to begin with is that he has some affection for her despite his stark annoyance. That is, his kind of "tsundere" is probably meant to be a character arc.

Ideally, this would coincide with the heroine becoming progressively less insufferable.
