if what you said in the spoiler is true (which I honestly don't doubt at this point) then I'm dropping this manga..
not to mention the fact that for some reason I dislike Konishikawa more and more with every new chapter

Honestly, do your best new guy. The old guy doesn't seem remotely interested in her romantically. There's really almost zero romantic chemistry between them, he's just a wholesome good guy.

And I don't really like "age-gap" romance, at best it doesn't really add anything other than unnecessary drama that doesn't matter in the end, since they're gonna end up together anyway. At worst it's downright creepy and gross. Also it always makes me think "the old one is gonna die years before the younger one, if they end up married."

The new guy isn't so terrible, but he does keep getting the in the way to break our two leads up every chance they get. I get new guy is interested in FMC, but she totally doesn't have an interest in him beyond coworkers.

As for our MC, he probably can't imagine anyone wanting to be with him for a multitude of reasons like his age and demeanor. I can't remember if this is the one where he was married before and got divorced as well, which would put anyone off from looking for any type of romantic partner. Add to it that he is her superior at work and he just has to force himself to not see her in that way...but we had seen in a previous chapter that his heart was moved by her, so he is aware that he has something for her.
