The castle on the last page looks so jank lmao.
That castle was drawn by someone who has no idea how a star fort works
does a fantasy manga have to be realistic?
Yes, unless they specify some fantasy reason for it not to be
A fort and a castle is two different things anyway. They just combined it.
I wont negg this untill i see in any fantasy manga a realistic city. Every fucking city in ALL fantasy manga is houses/the town surrounded by walls in a circle then wastland outside. Now THAT is stupid.
The most plausible reason would be the transitional phase,as reflected in real life.

The thin tall walls of castle quickly became weak to canon fire, hence why thick short walls of forts came to be.

The castle came first, and as odd as it was for a castle,it was given a geometric outer wall, which was fine until they needed short thick walls,so the best solution was to build the fort around the already geometric outer walls.

Does the author and/or artist know about this?,probably not,but explaining why a fictional setting does what it does more often lies with the consumers then the producers.

nah. i am pretty sure the one who has wasteland in the outside of the wall is rarer in fantasy manga.

Thanks for the update!! Finally reached the chapter I saw the mangaka promoted on Twitter!! That's how I found out about this manga and got interested. Mitsuba's sadistic expression there is amazing, I love it so much. Actually, her expressions are always great, even when it's cutely flat - such an amazing gap moe.

Now, i can't stop wondering. How exactly Mitsuba immortality works? It must have been consumed something to keep working.

It's not an unusual occurrence. Castles were built at defensible locations, and those locations tend not to just up and wander about. Sometimes it is unaffordable to demolish an old castle and build a newer one, or the old castle has historic/national/sentimental value, so you end up with newer styles growing up around older ones. 'Old castle in new fort' is hardly an uncommon look, e.g. Kronborg.

True,not unusual.

What is,though,is the castle starting with geometric shaped wall, since we can see that the castle and wall are made with the same details.

Kronborg looks more like how it should've been.
