Sometimes, this author pulls up very problematic characters into this world, that's supposed to showcase goofy coexistence.
I mean, you can't have citizens eating each other, especially so much in the open like that.
It's funny at first, but it's really bad mojo after that first giggle. It just draws your attention to how grim and unfunny some of the characters are (like the Gorgon turning that kid into stone at the start of the comic).

In the Greek Epic The Odyssey the hero Odysseus and his crew take refuge in a cave looking for food to restock their ship. It turns out the cave is home to a 30ft cyclops named Polyphemus, a son of the god Poseidon, who seals the entrance with a giant stone. As Odysseus had pissed off Poseidon already, he gives his name as "Nobody." When Polyphemus violates his duties as a host and eats one of Odysseus' men, they take a large stick and blind the cyclops as he sleeps. Polyphemus, now in a rage hunts for his enemies, who sneak by him wearing fleeces of his sheep and he thinks they are sheep.
