Just because you provide something for free does not excuse you from criticism for childish behavior. It's possible to be critical of the way something is given to you separate from its contents.

The previous TL's notes were debatable in the beginning, but some of it later devolved into immature quips that were simply retaliatory rather than substantive. In my opinion, littering pages with pointless phrases like "your mom" deserves a call-out. There's no need to deface the original author's work like that.

Honestly, if it had just stuck to normal, polite criticism, I wouldn’t have been as pissed as I am about it. You and I both know it wasn’t though, because at least a good seventy-five percent of the comments criticising it were just insulting the guy the chapter before it even got that excessive. When someone puts in the effort, gives people something with absolutely no expectations of anything in return, and immediately gets cursed out and insulted for it, is it really so shocking for them to get petty back?

Like again, I also didn’t like the notes, but it really wasn’t that big a deal to ignore and read around them, because I liked the manga, and until this chapter, nobody else was doing them. Hell, if the last guy hadn’t done those chapters, I’m pretty damn sure we wouldn’t have this one either. And I need to make this extremely, perfectly clear, this is nothing against a0n2. They’re awesome for doing this, and the higher quality is damn well appreciated, but apart from them, nobody else was doing anything.

And I understand what you’re saying about defacing the original authors work to an extent, but let’s be real, we’re reading their work for free on the internet. We aren’t exactly supporting them here or respecting their wishes here. I couldn’t really tell if it’s actually possible to purchase the series online properly, but if it is, are you? Or if it isn’t, will you when it is? Because if you aren’t/won’t, none of us have any moral high ground to stand on when it comes to the original mangaka’s wishes.

Anyway, look, my main point at the end of the day is that constructive criticism is fine, there’s nothing wrong there, but if you’re just gonna sling petty insults at someone for putting in the effort to help us all out with no expectation of repayment, you’d better damn well be ready to put in the same work they did.

We should stop excusing mediocrity just because it's "free".

We should also take commenting rights from choosing beggars, but there's a reason why this world has reached this stage when self entitled folks think they have a right to dictate anything like Karens.

You are under the mistaken belief you should be behaving like a king or noble, yet here you are on mangadex picking up free scraps like everyone else.

When you behave like a beggar, you should know to ACT like one and be HUMBLE like one. The only two words a beggar taking people's freebies should be using are "Please" and "Thank you". Not tell people to upgrade your scraps to a tenderloin or lobster bisque!

In the first place, you do not have the class befitting a noble. Unless you are paying or are a renowned translator yourself, know your place and act like the beggar you are instead of thinking you have any right to dictate to people what to do with your freebies.

Life is better when one knows their place. It is honestly pathetic behaviour when beggars think they can pick and choose when they are nothing of value. 身の程知らず
