Why would the sales department be anywhere near the packaging line? Why would he talk directly to the guys on the floor and not the site manager?

@WnF So what this was a spur of the moment inspection...by the sales department? Not quality control or the training department.

This doesn't make a lick of sense, and it's a painfully transparent source of schadenfreude later that neither makes the MC believable nor relatable.

This wasteful idiotic city boy.

If that was my company, this guy would be fired already.
Taking a loss because of the appearance of the meat would be better than no profit at all.

poor bunny, crying in it's last moments...

he's got the power to calm any animal and the author seems to be pushing a "animals are innocent and kind" message so i wonder if he's going to end up like tarzan, just living in the jungle/forest with the animals and most likely becoming a vegetarian.

@ironclad i have 3 possible answers to your question.

1. A difference between eastern and western business.
Its not unknown that businesses in say America or any other western country operate pretty differently from they do in china or japan, for instance we usually don't work for hours of unpaid overtime every month like our Japanese counterparts or spend hours after work drinking with our bosses in an attempt to foster our relationship, either way the main point is that we don't work the same. Which means people in sales could work other aspects of the company in order to save manpower or whatever other else reason. I should also mention that the guy he talks to on the floor appears to be the floor manager for the factory( no apron/facemask so he probably doesn't deal with the meat directly + who else has the authority to deal with a higher up in the company and decide how to deal with the food.)

2. Mistranslated/differing title.
I don't know Japanese any more then the average manga reader but i do know that some words in Japanese don't translate 100% into English. Its unlikely but he may have a more generalized job and the easiest way to define him is to say he works in "sales" just like the way they call it food company. Equally related is the dog, although its not impossible, i somehow don't believe the dog is called "john" in japan and it might be the translators taking a few libertiesUnless he is actually called john in which case sorry translators. Either way the third reason is

3. Author knows jack shit.
And you are totally 100% right, He's just talking out of his ass and has no idea how the meat business is run on a day to day operation and to be honest, i don't know either.

Either way all of this doesn't change the fact that food wastage is 100% a real thing no matter how you phrase it, people are just too fussy when it comes to food. I mean its pretty obvious because im a perpetrator too in that i would sooner pick an non bruised banana before a bruised one even though they taste and are basically the same apart from it being aesthetically different.

I saw a documentary on japanese food processing on NHK. The theme was mottainai which is 'regret over waste'. The accuracy on how he handles food is there. If it doesn't look good, it's either shops won't take the product or people won't buy it. There have been movements already by certain NGOs and local groups to take unappealing, but still edible, food products and distribute it to communities that accept and consume them. (You can google 'ugly food' if you like).

Also for japanese enterprises, it's not weird at all for the sales department to be at the cutting floor. It is because they are the flagship of the company for potential clients. They meet with clients, introduce the product and field any questions they might have. Hence, it is not quirky at all that sales and production are closely intertwined. (me, watching a documentary on japanese company that sold origami paper and another that sold custom screws).

This is a meh to me. I'll wait and see. It seems like another easy life type isekai, but the twist to separate the wheat from the chaff is that it is about animal husbandry. It's already raising flags for me to stay the hell away seeing how the MC can instantly tame any animal without any effort. But who knows this is only chapter one and it would be interesting to see how the rich boy character grows, and taming animals instantly doesn't equate to being a master in animal husbandry.

@Wnf and everyone, the dog's name is John in Japanese too. It's not a mistake and I checked twice to make sure I had it right. I know I know...

...
I really hate someone who waste food ... HATE THEM ... seriously ...🤬
but for someone who want to waste stock, it because management want to empty their stock without being seen BAD at their underling and their partner, including their boss ... so they make "proper" request via quality check ...
yeah, that also happen in reality ... 😱

Sure it might be a waste to just throw all that food away, but if they decide to sell it they'll lose sales in the long run. Less stores will be likely to deal with them and their own brand will look bad. Although they could just give the meat to the workers instead of throwing it away tho? But this is a manga, and I doubt the author put much thoughts into the MC earthly life. Most isekais doesn't even bother with the earthly life of their main characters, which can be seen in the clique characters and the fact that nothing makes sense.
