Also, how does VN eroge can be uncensored even if it's not internationally made sometimes? The recently released in english, ToToNo, was made 7 years ago and it took several years till an english release announcement (they also took their pretty little time). @HunLepto Visual novels are always censored if they're intended to be sold in Japan. Basically it's a law that requires anything sold domestically (Japan) to be held to certain standards. This includes hiding genitals through black bars or mosaic. There's also funny little loopholes like where you're allowed to show the butt hole until it becomes a sexual organ (eg, penetration) then it too must also be censored.

The reason why they don't sell internationally is because it's a lot of work to do and unless they already have international connections to help it along, it's just not worth it. Most doujin authors sell their works in local conventions like Comiket, and a strict adherence to the laws is a big deal there. You can be ejected from selling for treading the line a little too closely.

Fakku has been making deals with various doujin authors for a while now to sell their uncensored works internationally, and a number of localized visual novels are sold mosaic free these days. Their biggest profits regardless are going to be domestic, so unless the obscenity laws are repealed, we'll be seeing the mosaic for some time to come. There have been effort to repeal that law since frankly, it's silly, and was put into place back in the 50s when western values were shoved down their throats after WW2.
