100% lazy author/artist. They even have the reloading function happen completely automatically in a 3D space through clothes and pouches. They looked at a video game character and said: yes, this is how I want MC to play

But the scariest part of this chapter was the mom getting pickpocketed and reverse pickpocketed so casually.

For those curious if this in the LN.
In the LN, she gets a ring with a magic stone that looks like a diamond that does the silence effect. She actually wears the ring which causes Tigur to be a bit upset, since he probably wanted to give her something. The gun she gets doesn’t have a magic stone for that reloading bit. The LN iirc doesn’t go into any specific details how it is supposed to be reloaded or what it looks like exactly. It just called a miniature gun. LN volume 2 cover, the gun she is holding looks like any handgun from the modern day.

You don't make a semi-modern firearm without semi-modern tools!
What is the tech level in these rofa(ish) series, it bothers me to no end. You have magic and swords and then suddenly some soldiers pop up with mid 19th century rifles in good chunk of them. Not to mention just casually having semi-industrial products that shouldn't exist considering the overall tech level of the world... I know we are meant to ignore it, just like one shouldn't pay attention to lacklustre or nonsensical city/castle designs, but God does it bother me.

Just take this little "invention" an automatic reloading gun. That is essentially a repeating nay an automatic pistol with infinite ammo, so why not just make a gatling gun at that point? Whether the author puts any thought (none in this case) or a lot of, so many fantasy authors when deciding to introduce magic technology just miss out on the implications of it. Either the issue of how they managed to manufacture the mundane parts of the tool or the implications of such manufacturing would pose on a world.

Now I am reminded of some semi-good webnovel I read, where the MC could use magic to conjure up elements, even heavier ones. They ended up using high-explosive bombs in some war they wound up in and it just got me thinking, is that all you can conjure? Why not just marathon conjure some U-235 and drop a gun type fission bomb on the enemy capital. That should result in peace through superior firepower you were after...

And let's not kid ourselves, this gun will just be an useful gadget in some coming high-tension assassination scene and then will never be mentioned again. No one else except MC and maybe the princeling will ever be seen wielding it. Hell, if this story continues beyond this arc, I bet it won't even pop up ever again.

Honestly I don't mind about the gun.

The world is magical so their progressions by default is different from our so thing being invented in a different point in time isn't far off and the setting is within the potential range of gunpowder existing, so a well county funded secret organization could have enough time to try and make whatever they see is convenient to them.

I see the gun shown here as Medieval James Bond like tech, similar to how within the military or some organizations where they had tech that is league above most of the commonly found in real life.

I wonder what Evan will do to Rick once he knows that he employed Serena to kill people lol

I'm cheering for the mom to reconcile with Serena. Go, mom!

Feels like the mother that back then can see how Serena's smile is not from her heart, suddenly got totally blinded on this shopping chapter.
Rereading the chapter with you mentioning that, its interesting to see she still does her fake smile her or there but it also seems like there are some panels where it drops, like when she made the shocked face when she was asked to go shopping and how she agreed without faking a smile. As odd as it is, her being openly shocked was probably a better reaction for the mom than a bad thing.
