Yeah, I hated you all my life, I know our dad sent assasins to kill you... wanna crawl under a bush so I can say sorry?Dude's so desperate to kill him he doesn't even see how obvious he is with his intentions.
No need to be platonic.Girl, that's not a line you give to a platonic friend of the same sex
Well she already has "The Queenly Mask" already down by default! And even if they don't love each other, they cover the other's weaknesses as King and Queen (She can be the COLD One, and he can be the "good Cop" LOL)So, if it wasn't obvious enough before, to me this all but confirms she's going to marry the prince and end up as the queen, unless something really surprising happens (which would be a bit uncharacteristic of the story, if you allow me to be a bit mean). It makes me a bit sad because I find both the idea of her becoming queen and the prince boring.
Can we insert some personality in what is supposedly the main love interest before she marries him at least? Is she fated to end up with a character entirely defined by a single personality trait, being nice?
I guess he's good with a sword and he's a prince if we really stretch the definition of personality traits.
I understand that I am not exactly the targetted audience for this but good god I think whoever wishes they were her should be able to dream a bit bigger than the bland prince.
That was probably too many words for a most likely not that popular piece of fiction, apologies for the rant. :^)
Sad part is there was one option the twins had and that was "accepting" their brother! But that is just a small chance What If on if that would have saved them or not! At leastI agree with Scarlett's points about why Serena would make a good monarch, but the self-awareness she's exhibiting also puts her near the top of the list for the same spot.
I'd certainly vote for her.
And I kinda get both Rick and Shagard's feelings toward the Twins. "Pity" and "Sympathy" are about the extent of it, given they themselves have been mercilessly manipulated and conditioned by their power-grabbing mother to become who they have, and they are effectively unwanted illegitimate children in the eyes of their nobility who are shunned and disgraced.
Anyone in that sort of position would seek vengeance and want to prove themselves, and they've sadly had their circumstances weaponized by malicious forces. In an ideal world, they would get some sort of redemption and ...I guess at least not a sad ending. Exiled, perhaps, but still able to be together, with maybe some path toward a better, if simple, life.
But as Rick said--it's a harsh world, and this is a struggle for the throne. Children they may be, but it's a whole different ball game, and their actions will have consequences for them. The fact they're being used by their own king to flush out other bad actors and malicious agents is ironic in its own way, given Serena & Evan are doing the same thing when it comes to this Exchange Program into Astra.
And in the end, they'll get what's coming to them. Shagard might be able to pull off something that sees them not executed, but their chances at anything resembling the life they seek are gone. I think it's human to feel sorry for the way they were all but pushed into these roles, but they still bear responsibility for what they've done, to now.
Next chapter should prove to be a doozy, though, with things coming to a head between the three of them. No idea how it'll all shake out, but I hope Shagard gets to redeem himself and prove he's neither weak nor a coward in the eyes of both kingdoms.
Thanks for the TL work.
Let Justice strike true! For those curious how this ends.
The assassination attempt fails. Serena and Tigur handle the assassins alongside with Prince Shagard. Once the assassins are dealt with, Shagard who has the legitimate claim for throne judges Ismael for his crimes. Off with his head style.
Aisha in the meantime gets desperate and attempts to take an item that she heard would let her be able to be Evan’s wife and queen. However it is a ruse to make her do something stupid, basically attempt robbery against Evan’s family, the royal family. Aisha gets booted out of country, she learns from Rick that her brother is dead and her parents have denied involvement and basically disowned her. Aisha is given an offer by Rick, she accepts on one condition. With Rick’s acceptance of that condition, Rick helps Aisha meet her parents who were thrown into the dungeon for their parts, they see Aisha and try to get her to release them. Aisha kills her parents, their corpses left with expressions for horror on their face. Aisha disappears, presumed missing.
What was the offer given to her? She works as an assassin for Rick, she works like a honey trap assassin, she seduces her targets and gets information and whatnot and murders them when done. Ironically it was Serena who was the one who suggested that job for her, Serena saw her talent for it.
Shagard ends up falling love with Serena even more and gives her a special item. He leaves for his country to better himself. Evans realizes his failure in keeping up his attempts to woo Serena, his own parents lay into him about that. Meanwhile Tigur does his best to keeps status quo. He took the special item given to Serena, shoves into a drawer where it gets forgotten about. Meanwhile Serena has no idea how many guys are seriously in love with her because she’s completely dense in romance.
So no yuri? For those curious how this ends.
