Yep, typical villainess story logic. Everyone could insult and abuse the MC, despite that, she was a high-ranking noble.

Strangely, the rumours about Serena being heartless bully seems to be spreading through the servants gossip network.

Both are supposed to have had their social debut during the tea party. Even if Serena took after her mother and prefer not going to social event, Rosemary is the type who would love to gossip and brag about herself, she would be excited to go to social parties. Her status as a prince's fiance would also bring people who try to use her to build connection.
In those case, it's likely Serena's mom will asks her to tag along (and she need to keep an eye so Rosemary don't do anything extremely stupid).

But so far, it doesn't seem like they're doing socializing at all.

Self-righteous bastard deserves to not just be punished but also be stripped of his knighthood. Knights are not supposed to raise a hand on weaker non-combatants (on paper), especially a little girl and a noble daughter with a higher rank than him. Doesn't matter that she happens to be stronger than him, that was an extremely stupid act on his part. A knight is on the bottom rung of nobility and the duke and his family is only one step below royalty.

It doesn't make sense that she continues to stay in that house of snakes. Is the duke's money that important to her assassin lifestyle? I thought she didn't really care or particularly love her dad? What did the first prince offer that she was compelled to stay home?

She did point out in chapter 1 that she found it mindblowing how nobles have nonexistent survival instincts. Honestly the story would have been good if the mother got chewed, she deserves it for being soft as hell anyway.

That’s also kind of the reason why we have people in 1st world countries dying to stupid shit like jaywalking and falling into random ditches because they thought walking while using a smartphone in a dangerous situation was a smart idea.

People who go through their lives sheltered and people who lived a good part of their lives in danger or exposed to some level of danger behave differently.

Personally having being in the military and security for a while before, if you train yourself to make being alert and having spatial awareness a norm it becomes less exhausting over time. And ill take that baseline awareness over being dumb any day
Thank you for the chapter.
She played the game in a pretty hard core way eh? I suppose she knew that she could bear the physical pain. And she never care much about insults anyway.
In some ways, she is kind of a contradiction: She didn't care much about her own household but she still try to keep up the noble facade in society. She enjoyed the luxuries that came with being a duke's daughter but not in excess. And she could give it all up at a moment notice, if needed be.
Now that I typed all that... She is in constant state of vigilance and never let her guards down, especially in her own house. That sounds exhausting...
