yea, the worst part with her is she's the only one who actually ended up dying/really sufgering from her choices, didn't even have time to properly repentWhile that lady does deserve to get punished for her betrayal, I do actually feel a bit bad for her.

Good riddance ;3yea, the worst part with her is she's the only one who actually ended up dying/really sufgering from her choices, didn't even have time to properly repent
Eh, she didn't so much betray him. Sure, she believed the trial enough to not become a criminal to save and shelter him. But she never actually laid any allegations upon him. While that lady does deserve to get punished for her betrayal, I do actually feel a bit bad for her.
Not to shoot your write up down as it's pretty spot on but she did betray him. She was the only one there who knew him and his character best. The fact that she didn't testify in favor of him was her betrayal. Would his sentence have played out any different? Probably not but there would have been at least one person who believed in him and could have potentially helped him get out of his sentence after the fact.Eh, she didn't so much betray him. The saint however, should have noticed something was strange (before the trial too, but mainly during) and investigated his claims. Like, with her position it shouldn't even be hard to check with the postal system or the like, or investigate his house for traces of the letters etc, or simply ask around if he seemed like he had a corresponding amount of wealth.
His sister also seems to have been spreading rumors about how horrible of a person he is, and even did so in the trial. And to the people he were sent to work under, to make them antagonistic towards him (no matter how tsundere she is, that is what she did).
The authorities failed to produce the evidence of how he had whistleblown on corruption in their forces, making them all complicit.
The state failed to produce a proper defence lawyer, making the country itself complicit too.
The jury convicted him without evidence beyond any reasonable doubt, voting guilty even though all they had was character witnesses, and testimonials from cops saying he was investigated for being the rapist but that lacked any evidence (both of the investigations, and of the fact itself). Essentially he was convicted for having been a suspect in the first place. And then supposedly for visiting someone he was an acquaintance with (the "arrest").
All kinds of reasonable doubts, and zero proof. They were clearly paid off.
So yeah, he has a lot of people to seek revenge against (that guildmaster being one of them, no matter how much he is backpedaling now that mc has power). But not that lady.
Maybe it's a Japanese society thing? I don't know if that's how it is in real life, but I've seen a lot of stories where the family is quick to toss you away in order to save face. Even Persona 5 starts with the MC being framed and sent away by his parents...like I said, maybe it's just like this in fiction, but I do know of the hive mind mentality some societies hold.Imagine you've been living with someone you've considered them as part of your family. But instead of believing them or at least just give them a chance to explain, you just turn blind eye and agree with the rapist instead. Like logic? Helo?
Don't worry, it's a Japanese MC in a revenge story...he will not only forgive everyone, he'll probably apologize to them after he saves everyone and the world from some unspeakable evil.Eh, she didn't so much betray him. I felt like I was going crazy since no one believes me!Don't worry, it's a Japanese MC in a revenge story...he will not only forgive everyone, he'll probably apologize to them after he saves everyone and the world from some unspeakable evil.
Nope, That cuntess deserved it, cause she is retardWhile that lady does deserve to get punished for her betrayal, I do actually feel a bit bad for her.
I would call that abandoning him, but not betraying him. But yes, from a certain perspective, abandoning someone can be considered betrayal if they expected you not to abandon them. Not to shoot your write up down as it's pretty spot on but she did betray him. That's the part I never really get with jp revenge stories. They either have ones meant to be edgy, where the protag not only forgives noone (unless they are hot and put out, but not always even that is enough) including the ones that had literally fuckall to do with things, or you have ones meant to have more reasonable mc's but that end up forgiving literally everyone as soon as they give even the slightest justification (or even not).Don't worry, it's a Japanese MC in a revenge story...he will not only forgive everyone, he'll probably apologize to them after he saves everyone and the world from some unspeakable evil.
