So what's after mastering magic for him? Will they go into business or something? Maybe assassination skills or something?

I wish author wouldn't try so hard to make teachers, how to say it, inadequate.

@kwendy the last teacher wasn't really inadequate, she actually could tell fairly well exactly what was going on, and only was inadequate in that she wasn't too skilled herself (couldn't even defeat "advanced monsters" solo)

@feha When earth magic teacher just assumes something based on appearance despite being wrong whole three times and teacher that sees magic mistakes the magic capacity - it makes them seem incompetent.

I am genuinely struggling to understand why this overpowered protag rates as fine and acceptable in my eyes but like the other 999 i come across on the reg frustrate me to absolutely no end. Like it can't just be the way it's portrayed, cause as is he's just casually cruising through stuff, and it can't be the oh but he works hard thing cause most of that is off screen and it raises questions of why others aren't seeing those kinds of results.

I mean i guess it could be the fact everyone does seem to find it genuinely actually weird, but that feels...off.

I can't say why you find it fine but I'd say why others aren't is mostly that it seems like it's 'common sense' that it won't work and after trying for awhile they get discouraged by those who instantly become better then them with their skills. This then reinforces the idea that you can't for the future. The other option being that since he has NO job at all he can do anything, since his ability to learn everything isn't all being redirected into specific skills....maybe. Honestly the more confusing thing to me is simply that he's largely using 'known' spells. The way he does his shit he should be functionally freestyling everything which would make sense for how he did things like control the metal golem when it 'impossible' he just thought it should be and created the spell for it because while he might KNOW about the skills and spells others use he's simply emulating them while doing all the work on his own without the basically macro of the skill given by his job.

As for why I like it at all....I tend to be far more fond of when the overpowered nature is played for laughs, One Punch Man for example where the story is about the struggles everyone else has mostly with the side plot of the struggle he has in that nothing can survive a half hearted punch from him. Played more for laughs when he fails at something basic with his extreme skills(killing a mosquito, trying to play the game with the hammer and helmet). This story barely fits into that for me, meanwhile something like Death March....less so.

@chaeden

I actually kinda forgot the comedy aspect of it, and yeah at least so far that may actually go a ways into explaining it. He's out here pulling (in universe at least) absurd antics and it's not actually treating it with any kind of seriousness. Well that's not literally true, but it's not treating it like "Oh my god The chosen hero of yore" or "However will we survive this situation with our mere unstoppable god killing ally it's a mystery".

@Raguel It's exactly because of how it's portrayed. You(and me for the matter) are able to enjoy the story despite him being ridiculously OP precisely because of how casually it's played off. There's a point where it reaches a level of "so ridiculous it's comedy relief at this point". We enjoy looking forward to how the story will progress with such a ridiculous character and to what levels we can stretch this ridiculousness, as well as anticipating and looking forward to the reactions of people he comes across.
