@kronix in the Webnovel, the Fat Prince catches Rudy in a trap and plans on raping Roxy to death in front of him. That's how this chapter was supposed to go. It might still, but I guess the author toned down the edgelord levels for the Light Novel. I don't think he was ever interested in the maid in the webnovel either because of her age.

The guard, Ginger, is definitely caught in the middle in this.
He is loyal to his lord, 'cause he's that kind of guy, but he also feels his lord was going to cross the line with Aisha, so he aided her mother in smuggling her out.
In other words, part of his loyalty is protecting his lord from his own bad judgement where possible. He's loyal, but not blindly so; he does recognize his lord's faults.
Now, he's got instructions he's really not going to be happy fulfilling.

It'll be interesting seeing how things end up for him.

And, in regard to Pax...
Considering what all he could have been doing to Lilia and Aisha, while it was kinda perverted, it was actually a fairly clean perversion, as it were.

Yes, it actually was a torture for Lilia, as Lilia really works on presenting a stern, somewhat aloof exterior, and what Pax was having her do was so contrary to how she prefers to present herself to the world, but... she's a Maid, she knows people have Maid fetishes, this was something of an occupational hazard that she was aware might come her way sometime. It wasn't the hentai Maid fetish, at least.

This is not to say that Pax is a nice guy. Not at all. But it could have been far worse.

Just something here, isn't Lilia-san an ex-S class adventure? You gonna tell me she can't escape this situation by force alone? really autor-san?

@mahtan She's was never S-class or an adventurer, she was just a student at the same dojo as Rudi's dad. Plus she has the leg injury she received at the royal palace that's permanently weakened her leg

Hmm. My impression was that Ginger was male.

Sure, in the US, I've only come across it as a female name, but what I was seeing in the manga sure seemed male to me.

But... there are times where until it's officially said, it can be hard to determine the sex of a character for certain. At least, that's been my experience with Manga and Anime.

Ah, your nym; is that a Jules Verne reference? Around the World in 80 Days? That's the only place I've come across passepartout, although I do recall from the novel that it was actually a French phrase that was adopted as being descriptive of him, a nickname; I can't remember if we ever actually found out his real name. But it's over forty years since I read it.

No.

She got her daughter out, as she thought she could pull that off without too negative repercussions. The daughter was being used as a threat, as the one who would be up next if she didn't cooperate. If she stayed, and cooperated, then they wouldn't actively seek for her daughter.
If she got out as well, all hell would have broken loose. Because then the Duke wouldn't have had anyone dancing to his tune. And, based upon the Duke's reaction at the end, she was correct. Although part of that was reaction to who actually rescued her.

But she really did not enjoy what was going on with the Duke. The personality the Duke was asking her to present is anathema to her. She prides herself on being reserved, strong, and competent, the opposite of the personality the Duke wanted portrayed.

@Weasalopes Well, I've assumed you had read the light novel or the web novel since you have grasped his/her situation quite well and so I thought you just forget that character was a woman. But as you said in the manga she/he does look manly, so it's not impossible the manga adaptation will change her gender but it'll be really surprising.

About my nickname: Yes. I'm quite impressed you remembered it was a whole French phrase. It literally means "goes everywhere" but it would be fairer to translate as "banal/common thing which is suitable in all circumstances.". It's also the French word for a "skeleton key/passkey".

I also don't remember if his true name is stated, I guess I'll put this novel back on my bed shelf and enjoy the trip once more.

Actually, no, all I've read is what has been posted here; with this information, I should go reread this segment, to see if it was just my blinders getting in the way of realizing Ginger's actual gender.

As to the nym's origin, my memory is a very odd thing. While I have great difficulty deliberately memorizing things, my mind is a steel trap for the oddest trivia when it comes to the fiction I've read over the years. And I've read a lot!

In this particular case, I think what shoved it into my memory was the irony that he was attempting to escape from the disorganized life that led to his nickname by attaching himself in service to a man renowned for the regularity of his habits and schedule, just as said person embarked upon a completely uncharacteristic journey where there was no regularity to life at all, a situation even worse than those he'd held previously. Since then I've realized that passport derived from the phrase, but that flew right over my head in Elementary School, which is when I read that book; my sister had purchased it via the Scholastic Book Service, so I read it, as I did pretty much everything she got that way. Being two years younger than her, that meant I encountered certain authors rather sooner than I would have otherwise, if at all.

Man, up until now I'm still bitter over the father who cheats even creating a new illegitimate offspring. it makes me uncomfortable. Rudy really has a big heart. If it were me, I will never forgive the father.
