@Mr_Detective I'm not sure if this is a good place to bring it up (may just be seen as a shitpost), but I have a suggestion for a future music tournament. I already know how convoluted this is going to sound, and I'm not sure whether it would be easier to convey in voice or in text, but I'm gonna use text cuz that's all we've got. So, here goes. The concept is the following:
The music that can be entered has to be (at minimum) performed by an artist who does OPs, EDs or Insert Songs (Reffered to as "IS" herein) for anime/games, but the song itself must not have such a use at the time of the tournament submissions.
Simple F.A.Q.:
Q: "The song is on the same album as the OP/ED/IS, but is not actually used in the anime/game. Can I use it?"
A: As long as it hasn't gotten the "Re:Re:" treatment, then yes, you can go ahead and submit it.
Q: "The song I want to use is on the same album as an OP/ED/IS, and while it isn't used in the anime/game, it is used in another media. Is it elegeble?
A: In general, no. If the song you want to use is used as an OP/ED/IS in another Anime/Game, regardless of the purpose of the Title Track*, you cannot use it as it breaks the rule of being unrelated to the above purposes. ex. "ACROSS" by Nana Mizuki from the "TESTAMENT" Album which the Title Track is the OP for Season 4 of Zeshou Senki Symphogear cannot be used as it is the OP for a "Tales of" Game.
*Many singles for OPs that have other songs on them use the OP as the Title Track to draw sales, though there are cases where the OP is just on an album and the title is unrelated. ex. Sleeping in Brooklyn by [Alexandros] has the OP to the Ryu ga Gotoku (Yakuza) related game "Judgement" titled "Arpeggio", but the album has pretty much nothing to do with the game otherwise, and was going to (most likely) be released as it did anyway.
Sorry for being so long winded, but there was a lot to explain and I figured I'd try to throw in that "F.A.Q" to help alleviate some of the possible confusion. Anyway, let me know what you think. Anyone else can feel free to chime in with their two sense as well.
